this group has a dynamic that i've never seen before. here's why:

ash isn't just the protagonist to them. he doesn't just drag them along with him cause he needs company. he's their light, the one who pushes all of them to be the best version of themselves. he's the reason behind clemont's courage, bonnie's bravery and serena's passion. the moment he shuts down, the group tries to get him back. this was a wholesome mentor-mentee relationship to the entire group as opposed to his previous and following companions where ash himself had mentors.

serena is just trying to fit in. she didn't barge into their group of three. she was politely invited by ash as well as the siblings, but the girl just doesn't know how she can be useful to them. so she learns. she makes their meal times better, stays as a moral compass and an emotional support. her silent strength pushes ash to stay true to himself, clemont to believe in himself and bonnie to see her as her elder sister.

clemont has no sense of how he could be a good gym leader. he has the direction, the pokémons and the strength, but lacks esteem. as he mingles with ash and serena, he imbibes their spirit. his bond with his sister develops in subtle moments, and he brings the calm and cool to this table of fierce companions.

bonnie is something that max couldn't be. not hating on max, but bonnie was done a million times better. she cares. so very much. about clemont's future, serena's losses and ash's wavering confidence. she's the little cheerleader that the trio needs.

they are the epitome of “differences work well together”. ash is hot-headed, and serena is the one who can tame him. serena needs somebody to encourage her, and the boys do just that. bonnie needs an elder sister who would understand her when her brother doesn't, and that's serena. clemont needs an atmosphere where he can learn himself and they give him that. that's exactly why this gang works out the best.

This was a requested artwork by ‪@ssbgamingyt5204‬​ . I didn't tell Walker it was requested until now so he really made it as soon as he could. It was made within two hours so there's less shading and detailing. Also, he says he sucks at drawing hands and is still learning that. 😭 If you use it, please do credit him.
