Nature, Here and Now! - Chris Egnoto

You don’t need a degree to have an intimate relationship and understanding of the natural world. If nature and wildlife raw and uncut is what you are looking for, then this channel is for you. I will show you where and how to unlock the wonderful secrets nature has hidden in her pocket. Salamanders, snakes, insects, bushcraft, survival, foraging, weather, it’s all here and in field guide form. Lets get started on your path to becoming a better naturalist. When my wife passed away in 2010 and things and health were difficult in many aspects of my life, I felt I could do with the type of distraction this channel would give me, and that it would drive me to go out and film even on days where I might not want to. I got a cam and I set out. Well it helped. I LOVE connecting with people and I love to share my excitement. I decided to focus my channel on mostly nature. I need a bit of a favor :/ So....some of you may have noticed that I posted my recent Black Widow video ("Covered In DANGEROUS Black Widows") a second time. I had to take the first one down because there was an issue that had to be sorted out. So I re-uploaded the "fixed video" But of course, now it is slower to gain traction compared to the original video. If you have the time, I would GREATLY appreciate you giving this new upload a watch. I know you may have already seen it, but I am working so hard at bringing my channel back up from the gutter it ended up in last year - lol. It is a ton of.....blood and sweat that I put into my videos and I am just not doing something right. I need to improve my content, thumbnails and titles but it is challenging. I really, truly value all the attention and support that you, (my friends and subscribers) show me and my channel. THANK YOU! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqGDi...

OMG, it's been an AGE since I have posted on here. Just wanted to say, I spent the last couple nights with The Wildlife Brothers AND Jack's World of Wildlife. I push the Brothers channel all the time and I am disappointed for not pushing Jack's World of Wildlife (and Smetlogic for that matter) on a regular basis, too. Words can do no justice on what it was like to be in the company of such incredible people. These people can school me on so many topics, it's not even funny. As for sense of humor...completely my kind of people! As expected, I spent more time talking and listening than I did filming, so.....I really hope I can put a video together out of this. Long story short: THANK YOU so much for inviting me along and holy cow, I am left in awe after such inspiring people. Now I need to burn my cloths and purge all memory of the stench that seems to permeate the air around these magnificent naturalists, lol. In all honesty, my cloths still have the permanent odor of campfire - lol

Hello Everybody. It has been a long time since I posted on the community tab. I don't think it gets much traffic, so I rarely use it. BUT...I just wanted to say HOLY CRAP! What the heck happened to my color grading?!? I can only hope it was due to my vaccination shot or something. My eyes felt really fuzzy and "slow" for the entire night. I was up until 5am editing! I really thought it was going to be a great video, but now I feel pretty bad about it :( Oh well, it is what it is. Sorry about that.

Hello Everybody! So.....I put this video out. I worked hard on it and there is a part 2 comming soon. Pt 2 is going to be cool. Problem is, I have no idea what to title this video (or others like it). If you have ANY suggestions, I would love to hear them and give them some thought. Basically, I am asking YOU to help me title and maybe even help thumbnail this video. Thank you so much for any time you spend on this <3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-96I7...

Nature, Here and Now! - Chris Egnoto

Hello all my friends! I am very sorry that it has been an age since I posted on this community. I cannot believe I made it through 2020 and I am still here. Life has been nothing but a great big rugby match...and I am the ball :/ That being said, I have been in survival mode...metaphorically that is. Being in survival mode might reduce me to some of my most basic qualities, but quite honestly, it makes me think of something. Survival and Bushcraft skills! We are in the winter and this is a good time to practice those skills, while we await the warmer days of spring. The days where life stirs and the critters crawl, slither and fly out of their hidey holes. the insects, birds and reptiles and amphibians are still dormant. SURVIVING the winter months. We don't need to be so dormant. Let us review and practice those outdoor skills and tricks for the warmer months ahead when we can go camping. You have likely already seen my winter fire making tips and tricks video: "Make Fire When It's Snowing", but what about when the rain is pouring down? Well, that isn't as hard as it sounds either. Watch this video to see just what I mean. And please, I would love it if you shared this video on your social media or to a friend. Thanks so much!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4X2Z...

Hello everybody. Very long time since I posted on here. So, I finally finished editing my recent video. I really think it might be a good one. It is the Banded Argiope. I cover a lot of cool facts about these spiders, but let me tell you....she almost went UP my shorts. I am...regimental. So...yeah. Anyway, she is an amazing species with this wonderful silver sheen all over her body and her carapace is all silver. Hope you enjoy the video and if you feel up to it, I would absolutely love it if you shared it around - thanks!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t69Jn...

Nature, Here and Now! - Chris Egnoto

Hello once again, Friends. So, I promise, it's getting embarrassing to keep uploading these "post poned" videos and the whole deal, really. But it's the final product that I had in mind this whole time. So, I have to follow through with the series :/ So, I REALLY, REALLY appreciate all the love and support and encouragement from all of you. I am NOT looking for attention or anything, but at this point, it practically looks that way. Anyways, I won't be offended or anything if people stop commenting. Today is said to be THE day, for sure! And then.....I can collect plenty of B-roll for the fun part. No, not the proceedure, boy, I really wanted that. No, it is the part where I can film and talk about what I want AND not look as terrible, I hope. Okay. Ttyl! I am going to eat!!!

Nature, Here and Now! - Chris Egnoto

Hey everyone. I want to give a heads up to all of my friends and viewers. I do almost all of my YouTube editing, commenting and viewing, etc through my laptop. Rarely do I use my phone for any of it. So, I am a bit outside my comfort zone and therefore hesitant to comment back and watch videos, etc. While this would seem like a great time to do so, since I am on stand by for surgery and all. But I often slack with responding right away because comment interaction with everybody means the world to me, (REALLY, I LOVE IT!) and I prefer to be fairly present while responding. Right now......tired, antsy, and partially sitting by like a cat, ready to mobilize..
So, I will have a ton of comments to catch up on and answer for the next few weeks.

So my friend Mike from "Hike with Mike" posted a response video where you talk about your first video. His was a 23 second Rattlesnake clip which is actually pretty fun. Anyhow, I looked up my first video. Yeah, the Gopro one. It's fun, but I have recently seen it. So my second video "Ground Skink North Carolina Herping" really isn't too bad for one of my first videos. Videos from my first few years tend to make me cringe. Heck, videos from last year make me cringe. Pretty fun. In fact, the way I became friends with Mike and Campfire Steve is, to me, actually quite awesome and I will never forget. I was camping in the NJ Pines (Wharton) and I had about 5 days to myself, maybe 4. I made a water filter from sand and grass, etc and did a bunch of other stuff. There were two cans left from previous campers and they were modified into handy camp gear. So, I found what I thought was trash to actually be left on purpose for the benefit of a future camper. Let me tell you, I used them for several projects. TBH, I took them home with me for sentimental value and still have them in my storage. Time goes by, I edit and upload my video in 3 installments. I get a comment from another YouTuber down south (Hike with Mike), asking me where I camped. I answered and turns out, he (Mike and Campfire Steve were camping there) left them there and saw them in my video! I mean how cool is that? To be watching a strangers video on YouTube. Many states away. And this stranger made a video where you recently went on vacation and in that video, you recognize something you left to help out a fellow outdoorsman, being used in that video. To me, that just rocks! That was a handfull of years ago now. And to this day, we (all three of us) watch and comment on eachothers videos. Too cool. I included links to their channels, below. Good people, they are. Too bad I lost the comments when I made my other channel private :(
(I might have to go back and edit this, I haven't slept, nor eaten in almost 24 hours - lol)

I want to thank all you employees (from the head of staff, all the way down) who are still working around the clock to keep things running and safe for us all. Store clerks, Cashiers. People stocking products on shelves that we scuttle out of our homes to snatch up and quickly retreat, leaving latex gloves and empty shelves in our wake. Truck drivers driving the barren roads of a long night. Veterinarians and their Techs treating our most cherished friends. EMT's, Fire Fighters, Police officers all of whom march forward into the great unknown. Pharmacy employees giving us our life elixirs. Not only them, but to those who are working crazy hours to treat patients, calming families and finding solutions to what ails us. Lab technicians - who go so unrecognized for their precise knowledge of science, research, data and analysis of all the medical testing, allowing no margin for error and SO much more, Nurses, Doctors, Surgeons. Front desk staff answering call after call after call. A big thank you to pretty much ALL the other staff in health care that I have failed to mention. That also includes the custodians, maintenance workers and more. I NEVER take any of you for granted. And now, more than any other time in my life, I feel that we all should make it a point to continuously thank you for putting your lives at risk. To be away from your beloved families. The safety of your homes. To treat those most in need. Responding to our needs. All forms of wellness and health mean life to all people. You take us into your care and provide the help we need, above and beyond your personal wants and needs. THANK YOU. You are keeping things running. Keeping our bodies going. Your sacrifice is not taken for granted. Not one bit.
