On April 20, I was rushed to the ER due to my blood sugar being over 300. After being there for a few hours, I finally received a diagnosis: I was a type 2 diabetic. I was also given the highest dosage of metformin. On that day, the black clouds rolled in.

After about two months of being on the medication, and the discomfort that came with it, I wanted to throw in the towel. I had seen what the medication had done to some of the people that I loved. I also didn't wanna be another statistic. That's when I got really serious with it and met with an actual doctor.

He was my wife's, my mother's, and my grandmother's doctor. I figured it was worth a shot to get some answers. When we told him the amount of metformin I was taking, he was very concerned. He informed me that this was the highest dosage, and that the ER doctor was an idiot for prescribing me that high of an amount. He adjusted my dosage and added glipizide with it. All the while, they tested my A1C, which came back at an 8.7. Not the worst, but definitely type 2 diabetic range.

My journey to reverse my type 2 diabetes really began that day. After watching what I ate, drinking an ungodly amount of water on the daily, and consistently taking my medication, I received news yesterday, September 10, that my A1C went from 8.7 to 6.2. I had dropped it over two points. This means I am officially no longer a type 2 diabetic. I'm currently pre-diabetic.

A little bit of trauma came with this journey because I was a third-generation type 2 diabetic. So having the ability to reverse that was absolutely monumental for me.

Throughout this process, I felt like I lost a piece of myself along the way. A piece that the black clouds swallowed and would never give back. As of yesterday, the black clouds disappeared, and right in front of me was that piece, waiting for me the whole time.

However, the journey is not over. Even though I am pre-diabetic now a full reversal is the next step. I am confident that we can keep going and conquer anything.

INQUIRY FROM THE PIG PEN:

Lately, I’ve been deep into horror audiobooks, and it sparked an idea for the channel.

Once a month, I’m thinking about doing a horror book review or “book report” style video.

This year, I’ve already listened to "The Butcher and the Wren" by Alaina Urquhart, "Home Is Where the Bodies Are" by Jeneva Rose, and "Yellow" by Aron Beauregard, and those could be the first titles I cover.
