Big Northern Bear’s Brain Cancer Journey

Hello, I’m Big Northern Bear. On October 13, 2023, I learned I had a 3.5cm brain tumor—an aggressive, malignant Pleomorphic Xanthoastrocytoma. Surgery removed 95% of it, leaving me with active brain cancer to monitor closely. In February, I stepped away from standard care to focus on my career, practice my faith, and live with happiness and quality, placing my care in God’s hands. I also manage Cushing’s syndrome from prolonged dexamethasone use and PNES seizures, which have no clear treatment.

**Disclaimer:** I don’t believe in universal cures for all cancers, such as keto, carnivore, or vegan diets, manuka honey, or turmeric. Cancer is over a thousand diseases, each responding differently. Always consult your oncologist before trying any intervention.

25% of all donations go to Margaret's Place Hospice, which provides me with vital respite care. This channel is a personal vlog, not medical advice—my goal is to support others navigating their own unique cancer journeys.

Big Northern Bear’s Brain Cancer Journey

An update from Lisa bear.

Today marks one year that Danny finished his chemo and radiation treatment. I haven't posted an update in a while, and I wish I would have more positive things to say. This has been the most challenging year of our lives! His last couple MRI's have shown a lot of brain swelling and radiation necrosis, which is a side effect of radiation therapy. It has caused permament cell damage. Due to this he has lost most mobility on his left side (leg and arm) and needs to use a wheelchair when going out to appointments. He has had some falls, continues to have seizures (about once a week) I am currently off work to be with him and help him as he currently requires assistance with mobility at all times. We have 2 wonderful PSW's that come a few times a week so I can take a break sometimes. Currently he has a lot of edema in his legs and one arm and water on his lungs. It breaks my heart to watch the person you love go through this everyday. On a positive note, yesterday he had his first IV treatment of Bambevi which is a monoclonal antibody treatment to treat radiation necrosis. He will go every 2 weeks for an infusion. We are hoping this helps him gain some more movement and reduces the swelling in his brain. Thank you to everyone for all your love and support!!

Big Northern Bear’s Brain Cancer Journey

Started bambevi yesterday to treat the radiation necrosis and issues it’s been causing me. It’s not a type of chemotherapy but a monoclonal antibody treatment so far no negative side effects from yesterday when I got it by IV
There will be a big update video soon
