THE TOXIC AVENGER reboot with Peter Dinklage, and the crime drama/comedy CAUGHT STEALING are the interesting new releases, but JAWS and PRINCE: SIGN OF THE TIMES being re-released tips theater goers off that we are in the slow season off theatrical releases.

Weak week at the box office. Ron Howard's EDEN is based on a true story about starting a community on a deserted island. HONEY DON'T is an Ethan Coen directed comedy about a private detective.
Not much else grabs my attention. Looks like WEAPONS night win the box office again. Any thoughts on this week's lineup? Are you putting cinemas on hold until spooky movie season?

NOBODY 2 and JIMMY AND STIGGS are the eye catching releases to me this weekend. AMERICANA is a Native American artifact recovery film starring Sydney Sweeney. HIGHEST TO LOWEST is Spike Lee's remake of an Akira Kurosawa film with Denzel Washington in the starring role.
Anything here catch your eye?

WEAPONS had a great money weekend along with positive reviews. The FREAKY FRIDAY sequel did surprisingly well. The NAKED GUN reboot took a pretty big tumble in week two. Brad Pitt's auto racing film "F1" is STILL hanging in there after 7 weeks in cinemas. And, predictably, SUPERMAN and FANTASTIC FOUR stuck around the top 10.

WEAPONS (horror/thriller) is the most interesting to me of this week's releases. STRANGE HARVEST is a fake documentary horror film that might get some future love on streaming. Otherwise, the main thing I'll be keeping an eye out for this weekend is how far SUPERMAN, FANTASTIC FOUR, and THE NAKED GUN will drop in box office earnings. With schools starting again soon, we've officially reached the dog days of summer.

FANTASTIC FOUR won the weekend, but took a massive second week drop. THE NAKED GUN reboot failed to break 20mil in its opening, but SUPERMAN is still hanging in there after a month of ticket sales.
The noteworthy story to me is Ari Aster's "EDDINGTON" still hasn't crossed the 10mil mark after 3 weeks. Are his films only for a niche audience?
