Power of the Duelist has been revealed for Immortal Phoenix, and despite featuring HERO artwork, the card itself isn’t actually HERO-related.
Still, the reference is incredibly cool. The name is a direct callback to Power of the Duelist, the GX-era core booster that originally released in the TCG on August 16, 2006, over 20 years ago.
And the card itself looks like it could easily become a new generic staple. Definitely one of my favorite reveals from the set so far.
Power of the Duelist Quick-Play Spell You can only activate 1 card with this card's name per turn. (1) Declare 2, 3, or 4 Attributes; apply this effect based on the number of declared Attributes, also during the End Phase of this turn, send all cards you control to the GY unless you have activated the effects of monsters of each declared Attribute in your field and/or GY this turn. ● 2: Target 1 monster on the field; banish it. ● 3: Draw 2 cards, then discard 1 card. ● 4: Negate the effects of 2 face-up cards on the field.

Round 1: 🎲❌ 2-0 vs Dark Magician ROLAD Mitsu Pile
Round 2: 🎲✅ 2-0 vs Angelechy
Round 3: 🎲❌ 2-0 vs Elfnote Power Patron
Round 4: 🎲❌ 2-0 vs Dark Magician ROLAD Yummy Pile
The deck performed exceptionally well. You absolutely need to max out on hand traps as much as possible in this format. The non-engine carried hard, and the deck’s engine is more than capable of pushing for lethal when it needs to.
A few remarks regarding the deck:
• As I already mentioned, you need to max out on hand traps. I’m on 15 in the Main Deck right now, and I’m siding another 8–10 post-side. It’s aggressive, but I genuinely think it’s the only way you give yourself a real shot in this format.
• Ogre is absolutely a Main Deck card right now. It came in clutch MANY times.
• Pot of Sloth was great whenever I drew it, but I don’t think it’s necessary. Another hand trap might honestly be better in that slot.
• I didn’t miss F&V. A low-impact 1-for-1 board breaker isn’t beating a full Elfnote board.
• I didn’t miss Plasma/D - Force either. I was almost always setting up Dark Angel, and it worked out extremely well. My opponents even told me afterward that they had either Gallant or another board-breaking Spell in hand. Full board + Dark Angel is incredibly difficult to break.
• You can get away with playing only 1 Poly. The second one didn't come up.
• Cards that never came up in the Extra Deck: second Dreadnought Master, Dread Decimator, and Dangerous.
• I never found myself in an awkward position where I had to banish Dreadnought Master or Dreadmaster for Destro.
• Even if you draw Dreadmaster, there are still plenty of ways to summon him outside of the Field Spell. The “awkward” hands were usually something like 3 hand traps, including a Charmy, plus 1.5–2 engine pushes.
