Hey guys! Some of you asked about my siding patterns with HERO post MZMU. I figured I’d share a detailed explanation of how I approach it so you can use it as a reference when deck building. Each box in the images shows which cards are sided in and out based on their respective colors. The list can also serve as a good reference when building a HERO deck with the current support.
For going first (first image), I usually side out the 6 Mulcharmies and side in 2 Mask Change, Triple Tactics Talent, 2 Dragon’s Mind, and Solemn Judgment. Siding out the Mulcharmies is pretty self-explanatory since you're going first and don’t want to see them in your opening hand. As for what I side in, having multiple copies of Mask Change increases the chances of hard-drawing it in the opening hand, which can help dodge targeted negation and also enables double Dark Law on the opponent’s turn. Dark Law is a great counter to many of the top meta decks right now, and opponents will usually go out of their way to remove it. Because of that, having access to a second copy can be very beneficial. Triple Tactics Talent and Solemn Judgment are also fairly self-explanatory, they’re just very strong going-first cards overall. As for Dragon’s Mind, I’ve mentioned in previous posts that it’s great going first since many of our end-board pieces make it live, and it’s a resettable omni-negate counter trap. One last thing to note is that there are some matchups where Droplet isn’t particularly strong. In those cases, I may consider siding it out for other non-engine options (see yellow boxes).
For going second (second image), I usually remove the Evil HERO package (Adusted, Dead-End Prison, and Evil Assault), Favorite Contact, and ROTA. This lets me side in more non-engine cards that are tailored to the current meta, particularly Branded Dracotail and Radiant Typhoon. Double Cyclone is a great going-second card, in many cases even better than cards like Lightning Storm or Harpie’s Feather Duster. It lets you trade with two disruptions while still allowing you to resolve your own card. Droll is also very strong in many matchups, especially against rogue decks or heavy combo decks like White Forest. Some matchups may also require Ghost Belle. In those cases, I can side out the second Poly, a Droplet, or one of the Mulcharmies (see yellow and green boxes).
Overall, I think the list is pretty solid in the current meta. The new Masked HERO support from MZMU really gives the deck that extra push it sometimes needs to break boards. Hope this helps! If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments and I'll get to them as promptly as I can.
I honestly can’t thank you all enough for the support. Watching this channel grow and seeing so many people share the same love for HERO has been incredible. Reading your comments and seeing your support on every video genuinely means a lot.

First IRL deck profile, guys! 🔥 This is the list I played at my OTS tournament where I finished 2nd place. I go over the card choices and ratios for the build and how they fit into the current meta.
Apologies in advance if my English sounds a little off since it’s not my first language. I really hope you guys enjoy it!
Another victory for HERO, guys! Just got 2nd place at my OTS tournament. Went undefeated in Swiss and all the way to the finals, but couldn’t close it out in the end. Shifter in game 1 and Fuwa/Puru in game 2 were just too much. That said, I absolutely loved how the deck performed. As far as the main deck, I honestly wouldn’t change anything.
Matchups:
Round 1: 🎲❌ 2-0 vs Yummy Mitsurugi
Round 2: 🎲✅ 2-0 vs Branded Dracotail
Round 3: 🎲✅ 2-1 vs VSK9
Round 4: 🎲❌ 2-1 vs Magnet Warrior Radiant Typhoon
Round 5: 🎲❌ 2-1 vs Yummy Fiendsmith
Top 8: 🎲❌ 2-0 vs VSK9
Top 4: 🎲❌ 2-0 vs Yummy Fiendsmith
Finals: 🎲✅ 0-2 vs VSK9
Before the tournament, I didn’t expect VSK9 to be such a tough matchup. The side deck cards they run (Shifter, Ret “C”, and Di-Fi) are really hard to deal with, and if they know where to interact with Izuna and Hollie Sue on turn 1, it can make setting up a solid board pretty difficult. Aside from that matchup though, the engine and non-engine went a long way and I’m really happy we made it this far.
