Aveva giocato con un’intelligenza artificiale, ripescando uno dei primi brani che avevo composto più di 25 anni fa: un giro di accordi semplice (all’epoca stavo imparando a strimpellare la chitarra su “Anna” di Lucio Battisti) e un testo che mi aveva regalato mio cugino Michelangelo Setola, oggi affermato illustratore bolognese, che infatti, dopo una breve pausa, ha di nuovo curato la copertina che vedete.

Sembrava un gioco. Invece ho proposto di pubblicarla, ed eccola qui: Eolo.
Poco dopo averla scritta, quel nome divenne ancora più familiare: lo diedi al mio cane, serenamente scomparso a 16 anni nel 2015.

Testo e melodia sono rudimentali e piuttosto ‘dark’ (forse più da Halloween che da Natale) ma volevo farmi (e farvi) un regalo.
La voce non è la mia, ma c’è tutta l’intenzione di proporre qualcosa di rinnovato, sperimentando con queste nuove tecnologie, che non finiscono di stupirci a velocità pazzesche.

A few weeks ago my friend, songwriter and artistic director Gabriele Graziani sent me this song.
He had been playing with an artificial intelligence, digging up one of the very first songs I had composed more than 25 years ago: a simple chord progression (back then I was learning to strum the guitar on “Anna” by Lucio Battisti) and a set of lyrics that my cousin Michelangelo Setola had given me. Today he’s a well-established illustrator from Bologna, and in fact, after a short break, he once again created the cover you see here.

It seemed like a game. Instead, I suggested releasing it—and here it is: Eolo.
Shortly after writing it, that name became even more familiar: I gave it to my dog, who passed away peacefully at the age of 16 in 2015.

The lyrics and melody are rudimentary and rather “dark” (maybe more Halloween than Christmas), but I wanted to give myself (and you) a gift.
The voice isn’t mine, but all the intention is there: to propose something renewed, experimenting with these new technologies, which keep astonishing us at an incredible speed.
