An Open Letter to My Family 🏳️⚧️
Hi, I’m Maddison. I use she/they pronouns. I am a trans femme, a trans woman. I am valid, and every day that I continue my transition, I become happier and more myself.
I never formally came out to many of you because, truthfully, I didn’t have the emotional energy to face what I already knew would come from certain family members. The last time I came out—years before this—I saw firsthand how many of you reacted. And I knew I couldn’t go through that again.
But here I am, standing in my truth. I am not known by my old name. That is not me. And I thought you all should know this.
This is an open letter, and I’m posting it publicly. If you’re still here and haven’t blocked me, then you can see this. Some of you have already made it clear how you feel, telling me I need to “repent” or that I’ll “burn in hell.” Let me be clear: I already know what you believe. You do not need to say it to me. I will not put up with it.
I love you all. And I am Maddison—your beautiful family member.

Our Love Story ❤️📝
Tomorrow marks a milestone—eight years together for Marylyn and me. Not a wedding anniversary—that’s in July—but the anniversary of when we first became “us.”
It has been almost three years since I came out to her, and she has been my biggest supporter through it all. Trust me, I wasn’t easy to deal with while I was navigating my transition. But no matter how hard things got, she stayed. She loved me through my struggles, through my growth, through the highs and the lows.
As I transition into the woman I truly am, I’m finally in a better place—mentally, emotionally, and physically. And she’s been here for every step of it, helping me become the best version of myself while also raising our boys. She deserves all the love and recognition because none of this would have been possible without her strength and support.
She’s the real hero in our story. While I was finding myself, she was mourning the person she thought she married. And yet, she never let go. She chose me, over and over again.
I don’t know the statistics on how many couples stay together after one partner comes out, but I imagine the number is low. The fact that she still loves me, supports me, and stands by my side means everything.
We hear stories like ours in our inbox all the time—people navigating love, identity, and change. Every journey is different, but if you’re going through something similar, know that you’re not alone.
Marylyn, you are my home, my heart, my safe place. I am beyond lucky to have you. ❤️

We got some new nightgowns today and are planning to stay home and relax. Unfortunately, it’s been a very sad day for us. Marylyn’s mom lost another one of her beloved dogs, and we’re all heartbroken.
Because of everything going on, Marylyn didn’t weigh in today as planned, but she’ll weigh in tomorrow. We’ll share an update then. Please keep Marylyn and her mom in your thoughts during this difficult time.
Sometimes, it’s important to take a moment to process and grieve. Hug your loved ones a little tighter today, whether they have two legs or four.
