I aim to give an independent, fact-focused, non-ideological take on the issues that matter.
I look at the research and analysis without preconception, and talk frankly about what I find. You quickly find that some of the things you thought you knew for sure turn out not to have any solid basis - alongside the things that do, of course! Follow the channel to be challenged and entertained, probably occasionally infuriated!
Mallen spent two decades developing approaches to corporate social responsibility with some of the leading corporations in the UK and across the world. Before that, he dabbled in sort-of politics, initially as a Co-Chair and Principal Speaker with the Greens, and then latterly on the Federal Policy Committee of the Lib Dems and Chair of the Green Lib Dems. Mallen has been an unaffiliated floating voter for two decades since then.

No video today - the Amazon Web Services crash took out the service I use for processing audio, and it pushed the whole process back too far. If you're keen to watch something you probably haven't seen before, this video I did a year ago about the worrying emergence of a new malaria mosquito unlike all others, and the controversial programme to tackle them - still very interesting, and a great tonic for those ready for anything other than Trump! You can also marvel at the slightly gruff voice I had in this video. I think I may have had a cold - maybe.

It's come to my attention that there is a fake Mallen Baker account on TikTok, which started with clips from my actual YouTube videos, but has moved on to other content that I would not be associated with. I am not on TikTok - and I encourage anyone who followed this account in error to report it as an impersonation.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS IDEA?
No video today (sorry!) - but I want your opinion. I'm considering making the Friday video a news round-up video. This will be a little longer than the standard. It will cover any developments in the week of interest that haven't featured in their own video, it can include updates to stories that HAVE featured, should such updates exist. And it could include a little space to respond to comments or questions. (longstanding subscribers will know I used to do these on Friday in the past, but that was when I did just a couple of videos per week).
So what do you think?

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I have a question - Who are your heroes? Comment below with which people from history or present day inspire you, speak to your values, make you feel hopeful? TWO RULES (sorry). ONE. No current politicians. I'm looking for your heroes, not your current political affiliation. And, sorry, but not your parents or family member. Public figures preferably, or if non-public figure, give us the potted story of why. And TWO. No criticising someone else's entry.
