Jessica’s Animal Friends

Hi there! My name is Jessica, and I have over 80 reptiles, fish, and amphibians that came from situations of rescue, adoption, surrender, and rehoming. Many of my reptiles are pet-only due to a birth defect, neurological disorder, or neglect in a prior home. Here on this channel, you can learn about their husbandry and hear their stories. Please feel free to follow us on our other social media platforms including Instagram, Tik Tok, and Facebook. Thanks :)

No new video this Friday because some DRAMA went down with a company I bought background materials from. Let’s just say the reptile room move has been delayed WEEKS because of them, and due to a bad customer service experience, I will never be supporting them again 🫠 I want to wait until the issue is resolved and include it all in one video, so you’ll be getting an extra long vlog when the time comes. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and weekend!! ❤️

Hey all! The video I intended to publish today has a couple audio errors that must have happened in the export process. I may need to postpone today's vlog to tomorrow but stay tuned! We actually get in live time the realization that 10 of the enclosures we had planned for the shelves we have won't work. So, true chaos happening in the new reptile room unfortunately lol. I have reconfigured things, but it has changed entirely the plans I had for 7 geckos. You guys will see that in the weeks to come. Currently arranging plans to move 12 geckos and 13 enclosures at once. Send your well wishes for my mental fortitude LOL.

Jessica’s Animal Friends

Hi everyone! I recently cleaned an opossum skull and normally I would post oddity content on my second channel, but I’m wondering since I have been lacking in my uploads here if you’d prefer to see it on this channel. I’m OK either way just let me know what you’re thinking!

Over the last few months, Ben and I have been working on the basement to turn it into a safe and comfortable space for 80 reptiles and amphibians. It started with deconstructing what was there: flimsy wall paneling that was mismatched and layered, a drop ceiling, and weird handmade shutters and cabinets. We also ripped out carpeting, foam, tack strips, and old studs. I hired an electrician to take out the existing wiring and outlets and replace them. There are nine new outlets down there and a third ceiling light. Ben replaced studs while I drylocked and insulated the exterior walls. Luckily, my brother in law and dad came to help install drywall. We have mudded three of the 5 walls. Though we still have more work to do including mudding, a couple areas that need drywall, HVAC, flooring, painting, a ceiling, etc, we have accomplished so much. It has been exhaustive, especially with going back and forth every week to take care of the reptiles. But I would do this all over again. I love the work. I love watching each weekend bring me closer to achieving my dream. It has been my dream to have a bigger space dedicated solely to reptiles and amphibians for a long time. With this new space, I’ll be able to upgrade animals’ enclosures and bring in more surrenders and different species. I’ll have dedicated food storage and preparation areas as well as a utility sink. Having a functional yet comfortable space for all the reptiles means I will be able to have people who are interested in special needs animals come get hands-on experience. Seeing your dream become reality is an indescribable thing. I am so grateful to all of you who have supported me over the years. I am also grateful for my family, who never made me feel like taking care of reptiles and making videos about them was a stupid or silly thing. And I am grateful most of all to Ben. He has worked so hard to help me achieve this dream. Without him, it simply would not be happening. I thank you for your continued support and patience as we work on the future reptile room. The best is yet to come. ❤️

NEED YOUR HELP! I had a medical procedure done yesterday on the tip of my nose - a skin cancer biopsy. I was going to film today, but I have very specific wound care instructions, and I don't want to have to address it at the beginning of each video since you can tell something was done to my nose LOL. If you could leave some questions you'd like me to answer, I'll film voiceover content answering those questions to footage of my pets being their cute selves for next week. Thanks! <3
