Due to regional instability and tensions involving Iran, general corporate recruitment across ground sectors in the Gulf has visibly cooled down.

But aviation operates on a completely different timeline. Emirates isn't freezing. They're still hiring in full effect, and just rebuilt 96% of their network with 1,300 weekly flights.

They still have 73 brand-new Airbus A350-900s on order and 270 Boeing 777x. They have several new routes opening in 2026, with a massive focus on expanding their footprint into China. To staff this structural growth, they need access to a wider labor market. And that is exactly where the UAE’s June 1, 2026 legal update comes into play:

Federal Decree-Law No. 25 officially drops the age of majority from 21 to 18. This change eliminates the primary historical barrier to hiring younger crew: onboard alcohol service restricted to 21-year-olds. With the legal adulthood line reset, 18-year-olds hold full civil capacity without the need of a guardian.
