You can't find a silkier look than this. Each hue is manipulated in a way to support the overall silky contrast of this image. They're all muted independently to each other so the overall look sustains its unique characteristic.
Creating looks like these used to be my ultimate dream, but I had no idea how to get there.
I always thought it wasn't my skill, it was the tools. What makes color grading different is that skills don't matter as much as the taste, and that takes time to develop.
Never in a million years I thought that I'll be in the position to say that I run a company that creates high-end grading products for filmmakers. It feels surreal. Take it however you like, but RapidGrade truly is the only tool out there that can not only get you results at lightning speed but it does that while creating images like this one.
All good things take time, and this was no exception. 10 months in the making, probably 15 years in the making. That's how long I've been color grading, and finally, we're here. Zouhair wanted a highly stylized, over-the-top look, and not only was it near impossible to create it with just basic tools, but the biggest challenge that I was facing was consistency and the speed at which I had to turn this around.
The new OFX came in ridiculously clutch, and the craziest thing about it is that it's not even in beta yet. We have one of the alpha builds that we used on this project, and the results were better than anything out there. I am dying to share more about it, but for now, enjoy these frames.
