Happy Veterans Day everyone! A Day for us to honor the men who made a sacrifice to make and keep us free.

If any of you have family members who were Veterans, feel free to post their stories in the comments.

Here's a story from one of my ancestors: David Perry served in the French and Indian war in the Massachusetts Provencial Militia. During the Battle of Carillon, the French musketfire was so hard that he had to take cover in a shallow stump where he could only lie down.
When he returned to his camp, he fell ill and saw the gate of heaven. However, an angel forbid him to enter. He showed him the British ships at Boston and the British troops that were sent to intercept the American stores at Concord in 1775. He then showed David the American Revolution. He told David that if he remained faithful, then he could enter the gate.
Soon David became well and the Seven Years War ended. However he never told anyone about his vision in fear of being "ridiculed". He warned people of the American Revolution and joined the continental army when it sparked. While he was stationed at Breeds Hill, he ran to the top to see the ships and saw that they were identical to his vision. Eventually he sent a letter to George Washington, asking to be discharged because his family needed him. He wrote a book called "Recollections of an Old Soldier" making him one of the only men to record his experiences in the French and Indian War and the American Revolution.
