Seems like the camera went down in the storm. Hopefully it will back online when the weather is better, if not we have to change the camera. We still have some time before Mrs Rauer is norway, and we have to wait for good weather before we cross over to the island

"British Ospreys are only present at their nesting territories for around five months per year, they spend the rest of the time at their wintering sites. A small number of birds from Western Europe winter on the Iberian Peninsula, but the vast majority travel further south to the coastal regions of West Africa.

From November 1st to mid-March, these small forest dwellers can be shot – often with no purpose other than recreation. At the same time, we still know too little about the actual population status of squirrels in Norway, but in Sweden the hunt is banned specifically for animal welfare reasons. As early as 2020, Swedish authorities described squirrel hunting as “unnecessary.”
I, and many share this concern. Squirrels are intelligent, social, and important to our ecosystem. Yet Norwegian authorities choose to prioritize hunting interests over the precautionary principle and consideration for wildlife. We who love the nature believe this is an outdated approach to nature management.
Please raise awareness of the needs of wild animals and to strengthen the protection of the species that share the forest with us.
