Neurodivergence is not a personality trait. Neurodivergence is not a cute quirk. Neurodivergence is not fun. Just because you're weird or creative or whatever does not mean you're neurodivergent. Weird IS normal. Creative IS normal. Stereotypical is not. We've been lied to.
I know I'm a little late to the party, since in Japan it was October 19th yesterday. But I have some things I'd like to say to Atsushi if he can hear--and to you too if you care to read (you probably don't.) In 2019, I heard a BUCK-TICK song for the very first time: Dress as the intro for Trinity Blood. I'd had never heard of them before, but that short clip of the song excited me so much I literally couldn't sleep after hearing it. I didn't actually show any interest I them until 2023, right around the time Atsushi died. Around the same time, I'd just lost the faith I'd grown up in: very traditional Catholicism. My family and I had just left a place that was basically a cult if you follow the BITE model (control of Behavior, Information, Thoughts, and Emotions). All the damage and trauma that had been building up for years was released. But Atsushi has inspired me artistically so much over the past year. And whether it be his legacy or his spirit (if it exists), he has helped me greatly. I love you, Atsushi.
