I help jazz pianists develop the skills, understanding and confidence to play with freedom, creativity and authenticity.
When you study with me, you’ll learn how to:
• Sound like the jazz pianists you admire — while developing your own voice
• Understand how jazz harmony, chords and progressions actually work
• See the connections between tunes so you can learn new songs faster
• Play tunes in different keys, with different voicings, rhythms and approaches
• Stop guessing and start playing what you actually hear and intend
• Improvise with more confidence, freedom and flow
• Think more like a composer and develop your musical vocabulary
• Build real fluency at the piano, rather than simply collecting more theory
My approach is practical, structured and focused on turning knowledge into musicianship.
If you want to stop endlessly studying jazz and start sounding like a real jazz musician, you're in the right place.

What if learning more jazz standards is actually making jazz harder for you?
I just released a new video where I break down a different way to approach learning jazz.
We look at:
🎹 Autumn Leaves
🎹 Fly Me to the Moon
🎹 All the Things You Are
🎹 Here's That Rainy Day
🎹 Tune Up
At first, these look like completely different songs.
But underneath them, you keep finding the same harmonic language.
And this is the shift I want you to make:
Stop asking:
“What song do I need to learn next?”
Start asking:
“What do I already understand that's happening here?”
Because when you start recognising harmonic formulas, every new tune can become easier.
You're no longer climbing a completely new mountain every time you try a new tune.
You're starting to recognise the terrain.

And if you've been learning lots of songs but still don't feel like you can speak jazz, I think this one will really make you think.

If you could fix ONE thing about your jazz piano playing right now, what would it be?

You might be missing just one note. 👀🎹
Adding a 9th to a chord can completely change your playing — but the really interesting part is what happens when you start connecting these sounds through a minor ii–V–i and then remove the roots altogether.
That’s when your playing starts to sound MUCH more like the jazz piano recordings you’re trying to emulate.
In my new video, I break this down and apply it to some nice standards like:
🎹 Summertime
🎹 Blue Bossa
🎹 Softly, as in a Morning Sunrise
🎹 Mr. P.C.
🎹 There Will Never Be Another You
👇 Tell me where you are going to start applying this concept

When I first started learning jazz, I thought every new tune was another mountain to climb.
Then I realised something.
Most tunes are built from the same handful of harmonic ideas.
Once you understand the language, learning new songs becomes dramatically easier.
That's one of the biggest shifts I help students make in my coaching.
We begin tomorrow.
