Hi all! First off, I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the kind words about the Belt trick video! Participating in 3blue1brown's SOME1 has been an absolutely fantastic experience all around and I could not be more happy with the response. Here is one of my own personal favorite videos to come out of the competition. It's on a topic closely related to the belt trick: Bott periodicity. When you ask questions about the higher dimensional homotopy groups of the infinite orthogonal group O(∞), you find a totally unexpected 8-fold symmetry (which is absolutely crazy). This 15 minute video provides a gentle introduction to Bott periodicity which I quite enjoyed.
