How many hours of work do you think it took to grow this channel to 810,990 subscribers?

As we get closer to 1 million subscribers, I wanted to reflect on the journey.

Many ask me how I grew the channel. This question has always left me stumped because we never found a secret formula or viral moment. But, in retrospect, the secret was actually super simple. The secret was just: TIME!

- Day 0 - December 20, 2017: 26 subscribers
- Month 8 - August 28, 2018: 1,006 subscribers
- Month 33 - September 21, 2020: 10,240 subscribers
- Year 4 - August 14, 2021: 100,749 subscribers
- Year 8 - September 23, 2025: 811,990 subscribers
- Year 10 - 1,000,000 subscribers???

If you divide the 811,990 subscribers by the total 8 years it took, it comes out to just 11.9 subscribers per hour, or 1 subscriber every 5 minutes and 2 seconds. And that was the secret.

How did this channel get here? Simple. I convinced just 1 person to subscribe every 5 minutes and 2 seconds (something anyone could do)…except I did it without missing a beat for nearly 8 full years.

Also, I don’t want to underplay the tremendous impact of our now 10-person team, which brings me into the next lens. Over the years, I estimate that my team and I have put in 25,000 hours into this channel (15,000 hours on my end & 10,000 hours from my team). So, even if you look at it from an hours of active work standpoint, we didn’t even get 1 subscriber for every 1 minute of work. It's actually closer to 1 subscriber for every 2 minutes of work.

I don’t say this to complain. Actually, the opposite. While any business or entrepreneurial effort may have a viral burst here or there, it takes TIME for growth to compound.

Great things don’t happen overnight. So, if you feel like nothing is going you’re way, I’d highly encourage you to expand your time horizon. We tend to overestimate what can be done in 1 year, but extremely underestimate what can be done in 10 years.

For those of y'all following along with the Nvidia short story, I completely exited my short position this morning. Please check the pinned comment on the video for the details.

I still believe that Nvidia will continue trending down towards $50 by 2027, but having shed $1.179T in market cap within the last 42 trading days, I personally felt that it was a good opportunity to lock in profits. Will consider re-entering a short position if the right entry point arises.

I wanted to make this post for those that are curious after the Nvidia video and for historical record purposes. It is not my intent to create FUD or influence anyone's buying or selling decision. This is NOT financial advice.

Also, once again, this is not anti Nvidia. Nvidia is an extraordinary company and I don't think there's anyone better than Jensen Huang to lead the company long-term. This is simply anti Nvidia's stock price.

Hey guys, real talk. As many of ya'll know, I haven't done a single paid sponsorship or integration on this channel throughout its entire 7-year history. The idea was that I would only promote products and companies that were my own.

As such, we've been including integrations of my startup Silo, a marketplace to buy bonds, on the channel over the past year. Speaking frankly though, the sentiment and reception on this channel have not been great. Interestingly though, conversions have been extremely strong on niche financial channels. Just goes to show that this might not be the right audience for Silo integrations.
