A sneak peak behind the scenes look at our newest Beat Down!

Fans will ask, why do the Beat Downs cost so much money? Over 100k?! Well we are happy to break it down.

Lets start with how many days we usually shoot, it ranges from 4-6 days, sometimes 7, but that's rare.

First up is the cost of the location, depending on how elaborate the location is, it could range from 2k a day all the way up to 12k a day. One of the locations on Dying is Easy was over 12k a day. So lets take an average there, 5 days of shooting at 5k a day, well you're already at 25k just for the locations.

Next up, costumes! We really try to make sure our costumes look stellar, but we also need to make sure they are durable. I don't think some people understand how rough we go on these costumes. Costumes can range between 3k all the way up to 20k, the White Dragon costume was over 35k, our Batman Dying is Easy costume was over 20k. So lets take an average, 2 costumes, at 7k each, 14k total.

What about the cast? Well we use standard SAG low budget rates, which range between 250-500 a day, with an average of 2-3 performers, at 5 days, your looking at an average of 5k.

What about the crew? Well we run an 8-10 person crew usually, on White Dragon we ran a crew between 20-40 people. That includes our DP, usually 2 focus pullers, make up artist, fight choreographer (who actually gets paid for an additional 3 days, because him and I work on creating the fight before hand) you have two grips, a sound man, two PAs, and a costume handler, and that's at the low end, who all get paid the same rate as the cast. So in total you're looking at on average 15k to 18k.

This is not to mention, insurance, catering, props, overtime fees, stunt bumps, and any pre-production or post-production.

Remember, everyone working on our sets are working professionals, and while they come in at a friend rate, they still need to be paid as they are missing other work to be here. These rates are all less than standard cable TV, like the CW.

Also, its hugely important to remember, with us doing a Kickstarter, that taxes, fees and the rewards all have to be paid for too and come out of that budget. To be honest, I'm surprised we're able to deliver the high quality we do at the budgets we operate with.

I hope this offers some clarity.
