It's been a full year since the release of NO WRONG! :-) Yay!
I'll keep it short because I'm in a rush at the moment, but there's a LOT I could say about this song.
..Above all else, its completion felt like I could finally close a chapter of my life and move on. That's not to say I don't have any problems anymore, but I really REALLY wanted to get it out of my system, and so I did! I feel much lighter now. NO WRONG is my first - and probably last - 100% sincere "edgy vocasynth song with religious themes and medical references", a genre that raised me more or less. I wanted to lean into it, but it still definitely comes from the heart.
I literally don't have time to proofread this, so here goes nothing! Thank you for sticking around, here's to one billion more Solaria songs. I promise I haven't forgotten about her! haha

Happy 1 year to "Dance Like Me"!
Ahh, the first song about Astin and Sage, my original characters, in what may or may not be a song series called French Exit... The one I really wanted to post during the summer, so I finished the video and posted it just before midnight... The song for which I saved a *now scrapped* bridge svp OVER my svp, so now it's lost forever... Aaahhh, Dance Like Meeee...

I'm excited to make progress on my other projects so that I can keep working on my next Astin song, "Ouroboros". There's a bare-bones Sage WIP as well, but that's not getting done for a loooong time.
Thank you if you listened to DLM. I'm not sure what to say about it without lore-dumping... The lyrics are pretty literal, I'm happy with how I wrote them even if the end result isn't perfect. It's also the easiest song of mine to play on the piano, so there's that! Happy end of the summer to you all! Let the best season commence!!

So I prepared this gif in advance in case the milestone caught me while I was away from home, but I just got hit with the double whammy (30k views on TINAST and big double-Oh subscriber count) the night before leaving... Get ready for a cheeeeesy little message!
...SOBS.
I really appreciate it, I never expected "This Is Not a Special Time" to get much attention - much less THIS. I made it in maybe a month, rushed the crap out of everything except for the lyrics, and was quite frankly worried because at the time there seemed to be a fresh wave of SV Teto hate. I was like... ah shit, what if my tuning's grating? People say mixing her is hard, what if I'm terrible at it? What will people think if my first non-Lite song featured Teto?? What if the lyrics are too pretentious or don't make sense, or what if they're interpreted in bad faith, or wha--- Yep you get it. Anxiety's fun!
Anyway, needless to say I was and still am overjoyed to see the song not only receive so much positive feedback, but to know it CONNECTED with people. There's no better feeling than making someone feel moved, understood, changed because of something you whipped up with a drill-bearing blorbo and an online DAW. Isn't it wild?!
More than anything, I feel incredibly lucky to have my most popular song so far be a very direct, raw encapsulation of my outlook on... everything. The way I worded it may be confusing, and sure, people will interpret it in their own way, but it feels so liberating to say everything that's been on your mind and have it roam free in the ears and hearts of others. To have my most personal piece reach the most people is uhhhhhh. Intimidating! But so cool!
And if you just enjoy choppily bitcrushed instrumentals, that's more than enough, as well!

My friends can tell you how unreasonably stressed I was about releasing this. I generally try not to rant/vent because it doesn't help me personally, but there I was blasting their whatsapp with Teto yapping. So many of the songs that have/will come after TINAST were already in the works at that point, and if I didn't wanna post this on New Year's it would've probably stayed in my drafts. But thank you to my friends for supporting me (if you're reading this. hiiii <3), thank you to this song for taking a weight off my chest AND for being the reason I bought Teto, thank you to everyone who interacted with the song in any capacity...!!! And on the subject of the song itself.. I hope everyone who feels lost, empty or trapped, who might've found themselves in the lyrics of this song, can live a good life. Please keep holding on. Try your best not to limit yourself when it can be helped, and don't let other people tell you what to do or who you are. Stay safe!

Aaaand of course, have a good rest of your day, everyone! I'll keep doing this and... we'll just have to see how it goes!
