Hello everyone! I wanted to discuss a concept that I believe isn't covered very well during medic school, but it may be affecting more patients than we realize regarding psychiatric emergencies. Please note that I'm not a physician, this information is purely for educational purposes.

Patients who are being treated for depression may be prescribed medications such as Sertraline, Fluoxetine, Escitalopram, Paroxetine and others in the antidepressant category. During the early phase of treatment, typically within the first 1-6 weeks, some individuals may experience an increase in energy and motivation BEFORE their mood has fully stabilized. This creates a dangerous window where healthcare providers need to monitor the patient closely.

For EMS providers I encourage you while reviewing a patient's medication list consider asking questions regarding the emergency, when they started taking certain medications, how long have they been taking it for, it may add some context to why, for instance, a patient who's dealt with an issue for years suddenly had a mental breakdown. Patient education is key for something like this! Not just for the patient, but also family members and anyone else involved.

Goodluck with your studies! I hope this topic adds some helpful insight to your practice!

Hello everyone!! Today I’m going to be attempting to do a YouTube live session at 6:30 PM CST, or in other words 7 1/2 hours from now.

It’s going to be pretty fun, I’ll be going over CPR, some different skills, and any questions any viewer has with a first come first serve, think of it like a big open tutoring session. I hope to see you there!!

Hey everyone, so I made a poll on discord and decided to go with changing the channel name to Amateur Medicine, the reasoning behind it is I'm joining nursing school for a year long program and decided that I wanted to tackle more topics then just EMS solely on this channel, looking at different pathos for disease processes I haven't really explored yet, lab values, it should be pretty fun!

I considered making a second channel instead, but if I went this route I'd end up neglecting one of them too much and I think it would split my attention too much as well. I hope you're okay with the change, I understand not many people like change initially but I promise I'll work hard to make it as seamless as possible!

I'm currently working on a giant review that will encompass everything you generally need to know to pass the national registry for the NREMT-B, of course things will be missing, but it should hopefully be a very strong review. I'm also working on making a word document for you to be able to fill out if you want to have as supplemental information during the review. Hopefully it'll be done by the end of the week!

Thanks for all the support so far, over 4,000 subscribers is amazing!

The print out sheet if done correctly should be either a downloadable word document or viewable google document depending on what youtube let's me do, it'll all be free and I think it's coming out great!

Is this good or good?
