Various experiments done in my home laboratory, which is a fun and fulfilling hobby for me. I try to come up with interesting experiments that will help raise interest in science, since schools these days aren't allowed to show the more exciting reactions in classrooms. I also try to show the full process of chemistry, not just the reaction. That way I hope to give viewers a sense of what chemistry is really like, and deal with important topics like proper disposal.

Testing out a new piece of kit, the soxhlet apparatus! Incredibly cool device. If this extraction works reasonably well, I'll definitely be making a video on it at some point.

Well I finished recording, but it's really not the best experimental setup. I know I can do better. I've been extra busy these past few weeks and I feel like this one was a bit rushed. Gonna delay the premier a bit longer, but I hope you all will appreciate the increased quality.

After many months, I finally went back in the lab today to record some clips! What's the first thing that happens? Thermal runaway, and flask contents splashed all over. I guess I'm a little rusty.

Due to a hurricane destroying my town and my computer finally dying (unrelated to the storm), it's gonna be a bit before I post here again. Long absences aren't ununsual for me, but I thought I'd explain this one at least.

Their response to my email: "Unfortunately, I'll not be able to provide the specifics. I'd request you to visit out Community Guidelines for more information." Seeing as they said it doesn't violate the guidelines, I don't know how that's supposed to help. Sheesh.

My appeal was denied. "After further review, we've determined that while your video does not violate our Community Guidelines, it may not be appropriate for a general audience. We have therefore age-restricted your video." I don't understand how a video that meets the guidelines can still be penalized by age-restriction and demonetization. I can't appeal again, but I did send an email asking for an explanation as to why it was denied.

So YouTube age restricted one of my videos, and they allow a single appeal to be made but they limit your reasoning to 200 characters? Why? My intended response cited their guidelines and explained the content of my video, but now I have to trim my defense down so much it's lost much of its power.

Gas cylinder threading standards are infuriating. I swear every time I get a new gas it requires its own connector with its own special threading! Now I have to wait for a special order part.
