Welcome to my channel. I am Station Master Joe, and I am a life-long Thomas the Tank Engine fan (mainly a fan of 'The Railway Series' and the original TV show ‘Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends'), a steam locomotive enthusiast (though I do like heritage diesel locomotives as well), a model railway enthusiast, and a Beatles fan.

Here on my channel, you will find videos of trains running on my ‘Vicarstown to Knapford Junction’ layout, videos of trains running on my ‘Great Waterton’ layout, videos filmed at the Brambleton Model Railway Club’s site, videos of the garden railway at the St. Albans South Signal Box, videos of my railway outings, and so much more!

All aboard!

Remembering Britt Allcroft, creator of the much-loved children’s television show ‘Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends’ (based on ‘The Railway Series’ by the Reverend Wilbert Awdry) and its American spin-off show ‘Shining Time Station’, on what would have been her 82nd birthday.

While I am still sad that Britt Allcroft is no longer physically around, I am, at the same time, forever grateful to her for bringing Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends to our television screens. While yes, the Reverend Wilbert Awdry was the person who created Thomas, it was Britt Allcroft’s television show that introduced me to Thomas’ world.

If it weren’t for Britt Allcroft, the Reverend Wilbert Awdry’s ‘Railway Series’ books would never have been made into the iconic television show we all know and love, and I would never have been introduced to Thomas and his friends. And had I never been a massive ‘Thomas the Tank Engine’ fan as a child, I would never have then gained an interest in steam locomotives, nor would I have gained an interest in model railways! And had I never gained an interest in model railways, I would never have gone on to do annual ‘Train Fun Days’, I would never have joined the Brambleton Model Railway Club, and I would never have joined the St. Albans South Signal Box Preservation Trust!

Also, had the television show never been made, I would never have been brought up on either Ringo Starr’s narration for the show or Michael Angelis’ narration for the show, and had I never been brought up on Ringo Starr’s narration as well as Michael Angelis’ narration and then found out later on that Ringo was previously a member of a band called ‘The Beatles’, I would never have gone on to be a Beatles fan!

And also, if it weren’t for Britt Allcroft, Thomas the Tank Engine would never have been introduced to American audiences through a show called ‘Shining Time Station’, nor would he have gone on to star in his first feature length movie, ‘Thomas and the Magic Railroad’. And if it weren’t for that movie, I would never have gone on to do acting or film making, nor would I have gone on to discover more about ‘Shining Time Station’. And if it weren’t for ‘Shining Time Station’, I would never have gone on to do storytelling sessions at my annual ‘Train Fun Days’!

Happy heavenly birthday, Britt Allcroft, and thank you for everything.
