Today's short is a short edit of William Hogarth's morose and satiric series "Marriage a la Mode" [1743-1745]. In the edit, I crop the art quite a bit. Here are better renditions.

🟢 Planning on doing a series of videos on one of my favorite British painters from the 18th century, William Hogarth [1697-1764]. There is so much gold in his portfolio, and is well worth sharing. He is quite the masterful storyteller with his art, and is also a lovely satirist of the England of his day; many of his painted and engraved series are hilarious and thought provoking. 🎩

Keep an eye out if that sounds interesting to you. 🧐

🔴 Good evening to all my new subscribers!

Thank you all very much for subscribing. I deeply appreciate your attention and subscription to my new and small channel. For the time being, I intend on staying a shorts channel, posting daily on various historical content, from antique book reviews, ASMR history readings of primary sources, to shorts #onthisdayinhistory.

Just sharing for now what I am reading tonight, from the 1796 edition of the wildly popular 18th century poem "Night Thoughts" by Dr. Edward Young, a text essentially unknown today, yet immensely popular in its hay day.

Expect to see more on this title in the future! 🍁
