امام زین العابدین (علیہ السلام) نے اپنے بابا کو دفن کرنے کے بعد انکی قبر مبارک پر لکھا:

«هَذَا قَبْرُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، الَّذِي قَتَلُوهُ عَطْشَانَ غَرِيبًا.»
ترجمہ:
"یہ حسین بن علی بن ابی طالبؑ کی قبر ہے، جنہیں لوگوں نے پیاسا اور وطن سے دور (غریب) شہید کیا۔"
