On Wednesday I drove 11 hours to Port St. Lucie, FL to pick up a dream purchase I found on ebay, then ate some conch chowder and had a paloma. Yesterday I spent the entire day driving back with the purchase. I'm going to make a short video where I talk about what I bought. Expect a very clickbaity title and an underwhelming payoff.

No other genre in my music collection has as many countries represented as metal. This array represents 10 different countries. And yes, that is a cassette of Loudness, who is borderline metal, but I'm tossing it in.

Carrizozo Volcanic Field in central New Mexico. This is a large basaltic lava field that resulted from cinder cone eruptions about 1-5,000 years ago. It's a large badland that is part of Valley of Fires Recreation Area and can be walked around on an easy trail. It's similar to Craters of the Moon National Monument in Idaho and certainly a different-than-normal landscape. You can stand still here and hear absolutely nothing.

Check out this $50 thrift store find. I've dated it to 1972-73 with Bangladesh and UAE being independent but not Guinea-Bissau or the Bahamas. Despite being over 50 years old, it's in great shape. Almost as if no one ever spun it or even touched it much. The surface is clean, no smudges, and the raised relief feels great. The stand is actual metal (brass?), unlike the plastic one of my recent desktop globe from 2024. It's always interesting to see so many old country names on older maps.

Same question as the previous poll but with different choices. If you had to live in a penthouse condo in a residential high rise in one of these cities, which of the following would you choose?

I know it's not everyone's desired way of life, but if you had to live in a penthouse condo in a residential high rise in a city, which of the following would you choose? (purposefully leaving off the biggest ones)
