If you are interested in the wildlife of the UK then this is the channel for you! Here you will find Documentaries, fact files and wildlife trips from around the UK.
A Shot Of Wildlife was created by me, Liam Smith. I have a degree in zoology, have worked for wildlife rescue and now work in biodiversity and wildlife education. I have always been passionate about wildlife and since making these videos my passion and knowledge is growing by the day. I want to share with you the stories and facts about the wildlife that surrounds us every day. There is nature all around us and it needs our help. The first stage of this in my opinion is education and awareness, thats what A Shot Of Wildlife is for.
If you have any questions or comments about anything you see in the videos, please leave a comment and I will get back to you.
Thanks for checking out the channel and enjoy!
A Shot Of Wildlife
Winter is the hardest time of the year for a lot of birds. Food is scarce, it’s harder to stay warm, and with no leaves on the trees many species are far more exposed to predators. One way that we can help birds through the hard times is by providing food for them.
I’d really like to know how many of you feed garden birds, and whether this is something you do all year round or mainly during the winter months.

Yesterday I shared a short video about kestrels and a couple of people have commented that they are the prettiest birds in the UK- so I wanted to know if you all agree.
In your opinion, what is the most beautiful bird in the UK? (Comment your answers down below and I will make a video featuring the top ten in the new year)

It's a bit early, but as I am waiting for the last video I publish to youtube before Christmas to finish off, I thought I'd just pop up to say thanks.
The 25th will mark 3 months of me being a full time Wildlife filmmaker (which is my fancy way of avoiding the word "youtuber").
In this time millions of people have watched my videos, and hopefully learnt a little about the amazing wildlife of the UK.
There have been times where I have questioned my decisions, and sanity, but things are starting to really click together now.
Thank you for all of your support, especially over the past 3 months, I really really appreciate it!
I will be posting a video between xmas and new year, but if you dont see me before then, I hope you have a fantastic Christmas and a happy new year!

Was it worth a wet foot? Yesterday I ventured into a river whilst trying to film a fish that is apparently extinct in norfolk- spoiler, it is not. But can you identify it from this screenshot? www.patreon.com/posts/worth-wet-foot-140957405?utm…

There will be a bit of a delay in this week's longer video as I have sadly lost my voice. However, there is a great reason for it- find out here >www.patreon.com/posts/skulls-and-140488259?utm_med… www.patreon.com/posts/skulls-and-140488259?utm_med…

Hi everyone, I hope your weeks are off to a good start.
Sorry if you have received a whole bunch of notifications from me this morning, I have uploaded several short videos from a second channel that I made a couple of years ago- when shorts were new and I didnt know how people would react to them, and if they would annoy my regular viewers. These days youtube is usually smart enough not to recommend videos to people who are unlikely to watch them, so I have deleted the second channel and moved several of the better shorts to this one.
I did turn off the notifications for these uploads so you might not have been notified, but if you would like to check them out- you can find them on my shorts feed and home page.
All the best, Liam

A non native bonanza!
I went out in search of red deer stags but didn't get lucky with them, instead I had a cast of non native animals. Can you identify them and do you know which of these species has been in the UK for the longest time?

Happy Saturday everyone!
I have been using teespring to sell merch on this channel for a couple of years, but am going to start working with an independent printing service soon. (Which will increase the quality and reduce the price)
Would any of the following interest you?
If you have other suggestions not on the list please comment them below.
Thanks in advance!

If you're looking for something to do on this Sunday evening, I've whipped together a bit of a fun garden bird word search. It's completely free to access over on patreon (as is everything else I've published there). How many species can you find?
