Larry Maves Channel | Stories - Music - Image Art

LARRY MAVES' channel i visual-first storytelling exploring legacy, meaning, and the symbols we carry forward.

Through short films, spoken reflections, original music, and cinematic imagery, these stories are meant to be seen first, heard second, and understood over time.

This channel is a personal narrative hub — where writing becomes voice, voice becomes image, and stories become something you can return to.

New stories appear as long-form reflections and short-form moments.

You hear Before I Knew the Words open up a little more now.

What started as a single song has grown into two new blues versions—slower, quieter, and more spacious—letting the feeling lead instead of the momentum. These aren’t rewrites meant to outshine the original. They’re places the song wanted to go once the words had already been spoken.

You might notice more space. More repetition. More room for what arrives before language does. These versions lean into longing and restraint, letting the song breathe in a different way.

If you’ve lived with the original, these are meant to sit beside it—not replace it. Just another way of hearing the same truth, from a little farther down the road.

You don’t always remember when you learned something—
only that, at some point, it became part of you.

Two new versions of “BEFORE I KNEW THE WORDS” are now live.
One carried by a male tenor, the other by a female voice.

You may hear yourself in one more than the other.
Or you may notice how the same words feel different depending on who is saying them.

Listen quietly.
Notice what shifts.

Today’s work came from a simple request: how do you honor a grandfather whose influence never really leaves you.

That question connects directly to two songs I’ve written — A Way of Standing and My Grandfather’s Song – She Must Be Your Life — both rooted in lineage rather than nostalgia.

These first visual drafts explore that idea through cultural art forms, not as logos, but as inherited language. Each piece is meant to represent continuity — what’s carried forward, not branded.

The images here reflect early explorations inspired by Navajo, Haida, and Māori traditions. This work will continue to expand carefully and respectfully.

Over time, I’ve realized that some stories want more than words.
They want to be seen and heard — not just read.

Larry Maves Stories is a personal space for visual-first storytelling: reflections, symbols, and songs that explore meaning, memory, and what we carry forward.

This channel isn’t about polish or performance.
It’s about letting stories take the form they ask for — image, sound, silence, and time.

If something here resonates, you’re welcome to stay awhile.
