I sketched this arrangement/adaptation out for this ‪@arborsrecords‬ session (way back in '96) overnight in between days of recording, thinking this tune should be on this album in honor of clarinet hero Pee Wee Russell, featuring the late great Bobby Gordon, as well as Dan Barrett, Rick Fay, Bob Haggart, Johnny Varro, Marty Grosz….

Joining me (Jon-Erik Kellso on trumpet) Sunday night, April 19th, 8-11:00-ish in ‪@theearregulars9531‬ at The Ear Inn will be clarinetist/saxophonist Jay Rattman, guitarist Matt Munisteri, and bassist Tal Ronen. Check out the video below of this combo playing at The Ear OUT 5 years ago with a little help from our friends.

326 Spring Street, way west between Washington and Greenwich streets, NYC. Yummy tunes and swingin’ grub and grog.

No cover. To sit at a table near the band come early and bring an appetite (order some food). Check out Phillup DeBucket, and maybe put something in it. In other words, tip the band if you’re feelin’ it!

And buy our “Live at The Ear Inn” CD, while you’re at it!

Wow. Microtonal math rock-funk, or something like that. I must admit, I like it! The YouTube comments are great, too!

Here’s the whole Louis Armstrong Centennial Concert at the Louis Armstrong House Museum that I took part in last year:

Before there was The EarRegulars, Matt Munisteri had a band (I was in) called Brock Mumford that played first Monday of the month midnight to 3am at the Ear Inn, and recorded a couple of fine albums, and concertized and toured all over the world. Even Poughkeepsie, as evidenced by this video clip.
This combo featured Matt’s excellent compositions and vocals, musettes, and whatnot. Here with Will Holshouser, Danton Boller and Quincy Davis.
