Welcome, friends, we’re Gina and David, the husband and wife behind Greenwood Homestead, our little PNW homestead near Mount Rainier.
Dave descends from Étienne de Nevers dit Boisvert, one of the early settlers of New France, a Greenwood line shaped by forest life, salmon rivers, and old-world craftsmanship. Gina’s roots reach back to the Danish coastlines of the 1400s, and to Irish fishing families who lived by tides, storms, and the sea.
We spend our days fishing, foraging, gardening, cooking what we catch, and crafting handmade soap and homestead goods for markets across the Pacific Northwest.
On this channel, we share the everyday magic of building a real, hands-on life:
cooking, sewing, mushroom foraging, homestead builds, outdoor kitchen meals, storms, forest walks, homeschool moments, and cozy evenings by the fire. There is a lot to get done!

It’s been raining endlessly here in Washington, rivers rising, woods flooded, roads closed, and the forest paths completely impassable.
Rather than staying in, we leaned into it. We needed some time outside, so we started up the fires, cooked up some bone broth in the crockpot, and made some chicken soup in the wok outside

It’s that time of year again — my yearly Christmas & Yule train build 🎄✨
Everyone who knows me knows how much this little world means to me. Every December I drag out the boxes, light the candles, and rebuild our tiny village piece by piece.
This is the same train that circled our wedding cake six years ago — our Christmas wedding — and we’ve updated it every year since. New lights, new houses, new tiny characters… the tradition just keeps growing.
I’ll share the full setup once it’s done, but here’s a look at the early magic while I’m building it all back up again. Cozy lights, wooden carousels, little mushrooms under glass domes, and that peaceful glow only a Christmas village has. ❤️

Today’s plan was simple: drive out, pick up wood for the homestead, and come home.
But right away, we spotted wild oyster mushrooms growing on the woodpile — unexpected and beautiful. https://youtu.be/IZF9d-20N2w
Things took a turn after that with a flat tire and a storm rolling in, and by the time we got home, I threw together a quick dinner to wrap up the day.
