TV for Dogs – Real Pack Life from Doggy Woods Retreat

Welcome to Doggy Woods Retreat – your pup’s new favorite channel for DogTV-style videos, filmed on our 10-acre forest playground!

We create TV for dogs: long, calming videos that entertain and comfort pups who are home alone, have separation anxiety, or just love watching other dogs play.

These aren’t artificial loops or stock clips — they’re real-life pack walks, forest adventures, and social time from our dog boarding and daycare business, filmed daily in Washington State.

If your dog:

Gets anxious when you're away

Needs help socializing or calming down

Just loves watching other dogs...

…this is the real DogTV alternative they’ll love.

We’ve built this together as a family — Josh, Colette, and Eve — and we’re proud to share it with dog lovers around the world.

Subscribe to join us — we post new videos weekly so your dog always has a friend on the screen.

⚠️ This is an abnormally long YouTube post.
Which feels appropriate, given the videos.
Joke joke.

Season 3 is here! Season premier in just a few minutes!

This isn’t a hype announcement or a clean reset. It’s more of a check-in with the people who’ve been here a while, because this channel has always been a little different — and it’s getting more intentionally different going forward.

The core challenge I’ve been wrestling with for a long time is pretty simple to say, but weirdly hard to solve:

I’m not really making videos for people.
I’m making environments for dogs.

And dogs do not agree on anything.

Inside my own pack, I’ve watched the same screen produce totally different reactions:

• Too many barks and some dogs go nuts.
• Too few barks and others don’t care at all.
• Too many corrections and a few will literally leave the room.
• No corrections and some dogs completely disengage.

Same video. Same house. Totally different dogs.

So Season 3 isn’t about chasing one perfect format. It’s about finally accepting that different dogs want different things at different times of day — and building around that instead of fighting it.

You’ll start seeing a more deliberate mix of environments:

• Pack walks with varying levels of calm, sound, and callouts
• Very quiet, low-stimulus videos
• Louder, more energetic pack content
• Single-subject videos for dogs that prefer focus (like the hawk videos)
• Human-present, animal-light environments (like the mangroves)
• And sometimes… nothing moving at all — sunsets, stillness, music, background noise

Not because I want to do more, but because dogs already experience their day that way.

Alongside that, we’ll be putting out shorter daily episodes — not as “short-form content,” but as a way for you to actually learn what kind of viewer your dog is.

Does your dog lock in when it’s quiet?
Do they perk up only with energy?
Do they check out when there’s too much movement?

Those shorter videos are meant to help you figure that out, so the longer videos make more sense — whether that’s quiet-only, loud-only, or mixed environments meant to run through an entire day.

You’ll also start seeing more consistency around live streams.

There are really three different live things happening:

First, we’re planning a Friday night live show, aiming for spring of 2026.
Friday nights at 7pm, live with me and my three dogs — Casey, French Fry, and Piper.

That show will be relaxed and conversational. We’ll talk general dog principles, pull ideas from a variety of trainers and philosophies, introduce new dogs as they join the pack, and take live callers to help with real, everyday dog questions in real time. Nothing polished. Just dogs, people, and honest problem-solving.

Second, there will be long-running live streams specifically for dogs, especially for households without YouTube Premium — so the TV isn’t constantly asking if your dog is “still watching” while your dog has absolutely no idea how a remote works.

Those streams are meant to run, uninterrupted, as an actual environment.

Third, we’ll also have: • a continuous music-focused live stream, and
• a vertical, phone-friendly live stream from a more human point of view

Different screens, different needs, same philosophy.

One other thing, mentioned quietly because that’s how I prefer it:
some of the walking videos you’ll see — especially under Walks for Hope — are connected to shelters we’re working with in Costa Rica. If that’s something you care about or want to explore, it’s there.

So that’s Season 3.

Not a pivot.
Not a reinvention.
Just a more honest version of what this channel has always been trying to do — create spaces that dogs actually want to be in.

If you’ve been here a long time, thank you for sticking with the experimentation.
If you’re newer, welcome — and feel free to ignore this entire post and let your dog decide what stays on the screen.

More soon.

Our latest video is coming out today in a few minutes. These longer videos are taking forever to upload so I am sorry about the timing! There is a ton of amazing play and fun in this video and you get to watch as the pond build finishes up. Thank you so much for watching our videos and we love each and every pup in our pack. Season 3 is coming and we will have quiet and loud walks be separate so everyone can choose exactly what is best for their pups!

I visited Costa Rica to help some of the shelters there. In the videos with shelter dogs how much chit chat and discussion about the shelter do you want in the video for dogs?

🐶 Help the Stray Pups of Costa Rica 🇨🇷

Please help these pups — even a few dollars makes a difference ❤️

These dogs need our help.

In Costa Rica, tens of thousands of stray dogs roam free across the country. When local families step up to foster them, they’re quickly overwhelmed — especially with pregnant mothers and injured dogs.

Right now, the shelter is caring for two litters of newborn puppies. 🐾

Your donation goes directly to food, medical care, and supplies for the dogs and the foster families who care for them.

💖 Every dollar helps — truly.
🙏 Thank you for being part of the pack.

What a day today was and what a month September has been. I have had a crazy dental month! French Fry ate my night guard, it was late so I didn't recast a new one. Dang. I should have. Cracked my tooth, crazy pain in the morning...

Fast forward 4 weeks, a partial root canal, an aborted root canal, and finally (phew!) a tooth removed.

Yay! 😁🤣 ⛽

Now a week after that I finally feel normal. Today's video is February and June back and forth. It is so fun and interesting to see the pack in such different environments! The pack at Doggy Woods is so excited for you to join us on this icy, sweaty, summer, snowy, foresty, grassy, crazy adventure!

Keep dropping the names of your dog's for me to call out! Next week will have tons of new call outs! No pups left behind!

More videos, more excitement, and mostly more dogs playing at Doggy Woods Retreat.

New video almost uploaded!

Ok. Wow. It's been an audio video crash course to try to move to 4k and more than phone audio. For perspective, my old setup that all my videos were shot on so far had 3 pieces.

My new setup that I finally have all the pieces for (the correct ones 🤦) ends up at a total of 16 plus attachment devices (more than 20 zip ties were harmed in this process)

The new setup weighs about twice as much, but it will hopefully be worth it!

Thank you for your continued patience with this transition!

Today's video is all new footage, but no only a few callouts im so sorry!

The new setup is, unfortunately, still giving me trouble! Self-taught video and audio technician! Lol. I'll get it right. In the meantime time what a fun episode!

Thank you for understanding about the pack call-out video being delayed!...

Keep those pups' names coming! I'm going for as many names into one video as possible!

It looks like I have time for a few more names! Comment your dog's name here or on your favorite video!

Ok ok ok. Tomorrow, another 10ish hour double complication!

I've got the second starlink coming to upload the 4k videos....its nearly a week to upload one, lol.

Thanks for being patient!!!!

Keep the names coming! I want every dog to get a callout in this next video!
