The best analysts I’ve met weren’t the loudest.
They listened.
They read.
They stayed curious.
And they shared knowledge without ego.

If 2026 makes me better at hearing machines and hearing people, then it will be a successful year.

Sometimes progress starts with a pen, a quiet moment, and honesty with yourself.

Why I Love Oman 🇴🇲

Standing under the Omani flag, one thing became very clear to me — my attachment to Oman has officially reached “bearing interference fit” level. There is no way I’m leaving without a hydraulic press and a full mounting kit.

Here is my technical justification:


1️⃣ Environmental Conditions: Perfect Operating Window

Oman provides the ideal combination of:

• Low vibration (people are calm)
• Stable temperature (even when it’s 45°C, the people remain 25°C emotionally)
• High cultural viscosity index (behavior doesn’t break down under stress)

This country honestly feels like an ISO VG 46 lubricant with a perfect VI improver — stable, predictable, and reliable in all seasons.


2️⃣ Omani People = API Group V Additives

You can run a whole life with them, and you realize:

They enhance compatibility, improve stability, reduce friction, and extend service life of your soul.
They are the kind of people who make you say:
“Ya Allah, can I please get this culture in a 208-liter drum to ship worldwide?”

You sit with Omanis and suddenly all your varnish disappears —
in the system and in your brain.

I’m not leaving Oman.
Not now.
Not soon.
Not even if someone offers me an infinite supply of fresh turbine oil with zero MPC.

Because this beautiful country has become my emotional lube room —
clean, disciplined, warm, and perfectly maintained.

Oscar Ulysses Zerk (1878–1968) was an Austrian-American inventor and mechanical engineer, best known for inventing the modern grease fitting—the Zerk fitting—which revolutionized how machinery is lubricated.

Who He Was

Born in Vienna, Austria.

Emigrated to the United States in the early 1900s.
Worked as an engineer and prolific inventor with over 300 patents to his name.
Eventually became affiliated with General Motors, where many of his lubrication inventions were commercialized.

What He Invented

Before Zerk, machinery lubrication was difficult, messy, and unreliable. Early grease cups and drip oilers required constant manual attention.

Zerk’s key invention—developed around 1913–1920—was the:

Zerk Grease Fitting

A small metal nipple installed on bearings, joints, and moving parts that allows grease to be:

pumped in under pressure,
through a one-way check valve,
directly into the lubrication cavity,
without contamination.

This fitting allowed mechanics to quickly re-grease parts using a grease gun.
It reduced:

wear,
contamination,
and maintenance time.
It increased:
machine reliability,
service life of bearings,
and standardized maintenance practices globally.

Impact on Industry

Zerk’s design became the international lubrication standard and is still used today in:

Autos and trucks
Turbines and compressors
Heavy mining and cement equipment
Agriculture machinery
Marine equipment
Construction and earth-moving machines

If you look at any modern bearing housing, universal joint, or hydraulic pivot point—you’ll likely see a Zerk fitting.

Why It Still Matters

For lubrication and reliability engineers (like you), Zerk’s invention is a foundational part of:

grease route planning,
re-lubrication intervals,
and contamination control strategies.

His invention directly connects to tribology best practices we emphasize today:

Grease in clean, grease out dirty
Avoiding over-greasing
Ensuring grease reaches the load zone
Interesting Side Notes

Zerk was also a car enthusiast and owned several early luxury automobiles.

He was part of the industrial innovation movement in the U.S. in the 1920s–1930s.

His name is sometimes spelled Zerck or Zerks, but Zerk became the standard.


Today, almost every bearing housing, U-joint, heavy machine pivot, or industrial rotating component still uses his invention.

A reminder that reliability is built on simple, elegant engineering.

After 39 years, I’m still in love with the smell of turbine oil, the hum of bearings, and the excitement of learning something new every single day.

From running around plants with an oil sampler in hand, to working with amazing professionals around the world to extend asset life and keep oils clean — it’s been a great journey.

I’m thankful for every step, every mentor, every student, and even every challenge that made me more technical, more curious, and yes… more “Fussy”! 😄

…and 95% of people think they know me —
but only 5% actually understand what I really am! 😏

They say I’m “just oxidation.”
Others blame “contamination.”
A few even call me “the oil’s dirt.”
(Excuse me?! I’m a complex chemical transformation 🧪)

I’m born when oil molecules fall in love with oxygen, get too hot, or just don’t get filtered right.
I start invisible — dissolved, elegant, quiet.
Then I decide to decorate your servo valves, bearings, and control lines. ✨

And when you finally see me?
It’s already too late — I’ve built my empire inside your EHC system and journal bearings! 👑

Moral of the story:
If someone tells you they “remove varnish,”
ask them — soluble or insoluble? 😉

Because the few who really understand me…
don’t just filter me.
They chemically manage me.
