Basketball 3D Asset for Unity

is a sport arcade game template for

Mobile and Desktop Platforms with realistic physics of basketball net & ring, ring growing & hoop movement, and advanced scoring & audio systems.

Toss Diligently & Try to Get the Best Score by Hitting the Basket without touching the Ground.

🧢 Mobile (iOS, Android)

In this example, the camera is rotated using the Gyroscope, but you can also use the Accelerometer on mobile devices with low-budget hardware.

🧢 Desktop

On Desktop Platforms like WebGL, macOS or Windows you can use Mouse (RMB) and/or Keyboard (WASD/Arrow Keys) to rotate the camera:

the combination of 2 user input systems for throwing (Mouse and Keyboard) allows you to make the most accurate throw at different angles and speeds.

Game Template also provides an AR version of the Game with Unity AR Foundation Engine (ARKit, ARCore).

My recent review of the Unity Asset Store showed that there is still life and success there, but on the other hand, I can observe examples in local communities where publishers face significantly reduced income.

This experience is not unique to the UAS: 2025 Steam data shows that 40% of games failed to make even $100, which is the amount developers pay Valve to list a game on the platform.

At the same time, we have examples of Games and Apps like the following that people want to promote of their own free will:

1. "Paddle Paddle Paddle" β€” you and your friend (via multiplayer mechanics) must paddle your way through lava and water, swinging axes, weird wind, and cool slopes β€” Made With Unity.

2. "SlapMac" β€” Slap your MacBook. It screams back. That's it. That's the app.

They are viral and fun. You don't need cool graphics in games or long-term application development.

This is how success is achieved by those who do things that people need at a given time: simplicity and joy. That's all. Especially for Indie Game Dev or Asset Publishing.

Over the past 4 months, I have updated all my

16 Unity Assets to URP and 6.3 LTS β€” Results:

Runtime is faster, Editor is slower.

First of All, Unity has done a lot of work to accelerate building processes and improve performance in Runtime on all the platforms that I have tested:

β€” iOS and Android,
β€” macOS and Windows,
β€” Web (WebGL for Desktop and Mobile).

I previously used the environment with Unity 2022.3 LTS and BiRP, which had slower Runtime performance especially on Mobile Devices, but Editor worked amazingly fast.

🧢 What does "fast" mean?

No measurements will be provided in this post, just my impressions after updating 16 Projects with different settings.

I tested every patch in the Unity 6000.3.x line (from 0 to 12), so I have formed some idea of what is slow in the Editor:

β€” Creating New Unity Project (There are redundant packages like Visual Scripting or Timeline that are needed for specific use cases and not for every project. This clutters the basic project and slows down the creating).
β€” Opening Project.
β€” Entering Play Mode (Domain Reloading enabled).
β€” Switching between Platforms in Player Settings for the first time after Opening Project.

It generally works somewhat slower (not critical, but still) than in my previous environment, particularly in the areas listed above.

Both environments were tested on a MacBook Air with an M2 chip. I understand that on more powerful machines, this behavior might go unnoticed. But I have what I have.

⭐ Devs, have you noticed this? How do you make your workflow more efficient?

Super Realistic Cloth in Unity

with AR and my Basketball Net:

The Cloth component works with the Skinned Mesh Renderer to provide a physics-based solution for simulating fabrics.

This Video Demo is just an example of an Interactive and fully Touchable Basketball Net with 2 holes.

At the same time, the complete AR Basketball project provides an AR Safe Zone and the player will be given a warning about leaving the safe zone, the screen will be darkened and throws will be blocked.

What do you think about Developers who specialize in 2 Game Engines at once: Unity and Unreal?

What’s the secret to staying sharp in both?

I can't even watch all the news about Unity and Video Game Industry in general. There have been too many of them lately. And I’m talking about thoughtful learning, analysis, and real engineering work.

Honestly, I feel like a theater actor going through tons of material just to share GameDev Tips and Assets with you.

I've just released an Asset Update

for Unity called Football/Soccer 4.0:

It's a cross-platform template in the sport arcade genre with super realistic physics of the football net, goal movement and the target movement inside the goal, advanced scoring & audio systems, and 2 Game Modes (AR and Non-AR).

🧢 v4.0 Improvements:

β€” Unity 6000.3.12 with Modern Standards of Project Settings (based on New Unity Project).
β€” URP (Universal Render Pipeline) to improve performance (instead of the Built-in Render Pipeline).
β€” Input System (New Standard in Unity) for All Project-related Scripts: instead of Input Manager.
β€” AR Foundation 6.3.4.
β€” Sensor Camera 3.2.
β€” Throw Control 7.2.
β€” Android: Vulkan Graphics API first (and Linear Color Space).
β€” Remove Unused Tags & Layers.
β€” Namespaces for All Scripts.

Every Year, I observe changes in the

Unity Asset Store related to:

Search Experience, UX, stricter requirements for products you release for other game devs, the growing number of assets, and external factors like AI pressure that affect revenue and so on.

Personal results may vary significantly.

To evaluate the situation in the Store, we have two types of stats that can be found in the private sections for publishers on Unity Discussions:

1. Official Tastes & Trends Survey Results.
2. A topic called β€œHere’s about getting rich from assets”, where publishers share their outcomes.

According to the survey among users, those who use AI stated that they ended up spending more on the Asset Store as a result of using AI.

At the same time this definitely correlates with what Matthew Bromberg (President and CEO of Unity) recently said about Unity's Vector AI (an ad solution that connects games with the right players) and its customers:

"The more effective we are (Unity), the more money they (GameDevs/Publishers) spend". And It's a great recognition of the value that Unity is delivering to the game industry.

With the help of AI, you can make games faster, but AI tools are NOT a Panacea in terms of GameDev β€” they are Helpers. As a result, people spend more money on the UAS to ship more games, because they need:

1. Quality.
2. Testing.
3. Diversity.
4. Predictability.

All of these powerful pillars can be accomplished only after processing the results of AI by experienced Developers, 3D Artists, Music/SFX Composers, and other amazing creators.

People also visit UAS for Inspiration.

The mentioned topic also shows that there is still life and success on the Asset Store.

On the other hand, I can observe examples in local communities where publishers face significantly reduced income.

🧢 Here is one example I can provide

The publisher of the popular Doozy UI Manager (a set of systems that makes it easy for anyone to design, manage, and animate modern user interfaces) left the Asset Store because the logic of showcasing products in the Asset Store changed.

Views were reduced for popular publishers and redistributed among a larger number of publishers. And this happened even before the AI era.

Of course, it would be better to have something besides the Asset Store for the Developer to be sustainable. But on the other side, it shows that you need to increase your marketing efforts for your assets outside the store, because Unity is interested in showcasing diverse and needed products today more than ever in the search results.

The more sales you have, the more people need this product, and the more the store will promote it in the native search.
