short tsuki ch. 3 breakdown + tonnerre death explanation (yes she breaks down in chapter 3)
[SPOILERS FOR DANGANRONPA TRIGGER HAPPY HAVOC AHEAD]
[TW: death (obv), mental health issues]

so basically, before kiyotaka and hifumi die, tonnerre accidentally spills water all over monokuma, causing him to malfunction. monokuma, taking this as an attempt to "harm him", impales tonnerre in the chest with a spear. tsuki runs and tries to save him, but it was far too late. ..tsuki, upon realizing tonnerre was dead, broke down infront of everyone. when asked if she was alright, she immediately went hostile and started screaming at everyone to just leave her alone, and she ran off to her dormitory. (which is why you wouldn't be able to have any free time events with her during ch. 3 if she was ingame. ..you'd get special dialogue and a special scene upon being forced to check on her but you can't initiate a free time event or give her anything)
..the aforementioned special scene? ..well.. it's a heavily implied and outright said at some point failed.. "attempt". ..byakuya is just holding onto her, seeming to actually panic for once, while she's just silent. ..makoto leaves to give them space.
..during the class trial, tsuki is acting even more rude than usual (she goes from her usual mild rudeness to WORSE THAN BYAKUYA). inevitably, someone brings up tonnerre's death, and tsuki freezes, and eventually when pressed further, fully snaps, starting to scream and sob. ..eventually she does quiet down, but she's silent and not much help for most of the trial. ..after the trial, the others eventually check on her properly and she just starts quietly sobbing while they try to reassure her that it wasn't her fault. ..eventually makoto mentions that he saw her during free time. ..she goes silent. ..he reminds her that tonnerre wouldn't want to go out like that. ..that they all don't want her to go out like that. ..he tells her that if she won't live for herself, then she should live for tonnerre. for byakuya. for all of them. ..she takes that to heart for the rest of her life.
