Фёдор — человек, благодаря которому родился и живёт уникальный мир Theodor Bastard, наполненный глубоким звучанием, древними ритмами и магической атмосферой. Его музыка соединяет культуры и времена, заставляет слушателя путешествовать сквозь пространство, миф и эмоции. Музыка — как дыхание мира: в ней шумят северные ветра, звучат древние барабаны и светятся огни дальних дорог.
Помимо работы в группе, Фёдор известен как композитор саундтреков к фильмам, сериалам и видеоиграм, где его неповторимый стиль мгновенно узнаётся. А ещё — как писатель, создающий особые миры и истории, в которых живёт та же сила, что и в его музыке.

Theodor Bastard

Good news from across the ocean. Our album Volch’ya Yagoda and the music video Les just took Gold at the LIT Music Awards — Best World Music Album and Best Music Video respectively. Another US recognition for Theodor Bastard: the music traveled on its own, found the jury, and came back with a glow. We’re calm about accolades, but it still feels special when the global scene notices independent Russian music.


For the record, this joins our earlier US nods: John Lennon Songwriting Contest 2021 (Session I) finalists with “Volchok,” and International Acoustic Music Awards 2025 finalists with “Vetvi.” Small steps, steady path.

The very voice that became our inner light. Yana is not just a singer. She is a co-author of our songs, a composer, a multi-instrumentalist. When we first heard her singing, we changed our entire approach to music — to become a frame for this shining crystal. Yana, you are our compass, our muse, our sorceress of sound.

Сегодня день рождения Яны — вокалистки Theodor Bastard и моего постоянного соавтора.
Помню, в недавней книге Ник Кейв хорошо рассказывал, какое это чудо — найти своего человека. Когда ты начинаешь одну ноту, а он продолжает. Когда ты ставишь звук, а он уже понимает, к чему ты ведёшь. Вот у нас с Яной именно такая синергия. Иногда мы даже не можем отлепить тексты песен друг от друга — кто где что сочинил.
Без Яны и без той магии, которую даёт её голос, я, однозначно, уже не занимался бы музыкой. Или, по крайней мере, не делал бы её в таком виде.
Яна и её голос многие годы служат моим абсолютным вдохновением и юбарометром.
Спасибо, Яночка, за то, что ты есть.
Будь. Просто будь — счастлива и прекрасна, как всегда. Обнимаю.

If you’ve been looking for a reason to loosen your braids (or, dare we say, your moustache)—this is the sign!

While the goddess Mokosh keeps watch over every silvery skein of flax, let our music be your summer soundtrack—queue it up whenever the sun climbs high and welcome the season the way our ancestors did: with melody, mischief, and an open heart. Happy holiday!

The Tale Behind “Pozhato”. Here’s one of the very few videos where Fedor (the founder of our band) actually “sings” side by side with Yana, then bursts out laughing as he mimics the creak of an ancient tree. The footage comes from a twelve-camera shoot at our Theodor Bastard concert in the Eifman Academy Theatre, and the song’s back-story is as strange as that laugh.

After so many years of making music, you can lose sight of why you began. While we were shaping the tracks for Volch’ya Yagoda we felt exactly that: stuck in a musical bog, spinning our wheels, rejecting every note we wrote. It was late 2019, the eve of the pandemic—the peak of our creative despair.

So Fedor ran away. He had just bought a small cabin in Karelia. One gray autumn morning he pulled on felt boots and an old sheepskin coat and wandered into the forest, shuffling over moss hummocks and wind-fallen trunks. Several hours in, he heard a sound so eerie it seemed alive—a drawn-out, mournful groan. Frozen in the thicket, he realized it came from a dying tree: its bark and limbs grinding together, complaining, almost weeping.

Listening, he suddenly saw himself in that tree: bent, stubbled, weighed down by thought. Old Russian proverbs welled up—“Life is long, but each moment is precious,” “To live a life is not to cross a field.” It felt like touching a hidden spring of folk wisdom, what Jung would have called the collective unconscious. In that instant the fog lifted. It was like tumbling into a fly-agaric fairy-tale, only to find the path home.

When dusk fell and the cabin lights glowed ahead, Fedor’s heart eased: Everything I’m searching for is already here—in this warmth, in the people I love.

The next morning he returned with a field recorder, wide-awake and clear-headed, and captured that infernal creak. You can hear it in the track on album, taking the place of a solo.

When the rest of us first listened, each of us pictured something different—yet we all felt the same chill. Yana caught the spirit at once; together she and Fyodor shaped the chorus and its melodic turns. That day we turned a page. “Pozhato” became a way back to ourselves, made without looking over our shoulders to see whether anyone would approve. We had drunk again from the very source that once set us on this road.
