My latest video sparked a debate about the reliance of some German institutions on fax as a means of communication. Those criticizing it say that it's a slow and outdated technology, and that better and more reliable technologies are available. Those supporting it say that, since it uses point-to-point transmission it is inherently more secure than any technology that relies on routing through multiple servers; also, of course, Germany is not the only country that still uses fax.
What do you think? Is reliance on fax in the 21st century a good thing?

This is not far from where I live, in a place called Waldaschaff, just the latest in a series of wildfires in the region. The latest news is that firefighters have succeeded in keeping the fire away from the houses, but it's still blazing. Local companies and farmers are helping out with supplies of water.
I wish it didn't have to be said, but these fires almost never start spontaneously. This part of Europe is in the grip of a severe drought, and right now the entire countryside is a tinderbox: the smallest spark can set a whole hillside on fire. Please, if you're outside, don't have any naked flames -- don't even strike a match. Also, don't leave any bottles or shards of glass lying around outside: they can start fires just by focusing the sun's rays.
