Here's an example of the kind of thing I have to deal with on a surprisingly regular basis: unbeatable offers to advertise on my channel.
What's interesting about this one (and in fact nearly all of them) is that the agency clearly has no idea who I am or what I do. Their website claims that they diligently find influencers whose values align perfectly with those of each individual client. And so, after weeks or possible months of research, they conclude that a British vlogger making travel videos about Germany would be the perfect match for an American law firm. Clearly, they just spam these out to random creators and wait for them to basically self-select.
A 45-60 second segment mid-video, by the way, is actually mild compared to some of the requirements that come through: it's not unheard of to be asked for a few seconds at the start of the video, a 90-second segment halfway through, another mention at the end, and a link right at the top of the description. This is the main reason I very quickly abandoned the idea of sponsorships: advertisers typically make ridiculous demands that rob me of a lot of editorial control. I am in the lucky position of not needing to make an actual living from my YouTube work -- it's enough for me if I just stay in the black -- so I'm not even close to being tempted. But honestly, it's the Wild West out there, and at some point there has to be some kind of proper regulation.

Hi there! Sorry for the prolonged radio silence, but I'm really busy working on a video which I hope to be able to release soon. I'll probably make one or two quick videos before then, but right now this one is taking up pretty much all of my time. Currently, I'm still putting together a rough edit; after that comes the really tricky stuff.
