What is sleep?
—Poem made by Leonard Mitchell🧐

Sleep is good,
Sleep is something everyone needs to do.
Sleep exists not for me,
Sleep is something I lack.
Methinks overwork should not exist,
but the lady I praise thinks otherwise!
So work, work, work
I live for work.
Sleep, is something I lack.




If we take the poet Leonard Mitchell's bibliography, you can see a lot of different aspects from his life that inspired him to write such an amazing piece. He uses repetition for the audience to pay attention the word 'sleep'. 'What is sleep?' as the title, reminds us of the lack of sleep the people from the Lady's pathway, those poor overworked souls from the Evernight churches. Leonard, as the amazing poet he is, didn't write this poem just for himself, but for his coworkers, his supperiors and everyone else from the Evernight church. It is a wonder, though, how Mr.Mitchell is still alive after off ending the Lady.

In the first phrase, Leonard Mitchell state a fact. Sleep is good, something everyone needs to do. However, he uses this to compare with himself. He keeps getting so overworked that he doesn't even sleep. Although he had became a high sequence beyonder, it doesn't mean that he is less human than others. He protest harshly, firmly claiming for the rights of the poor overworker workers.

'Work, work, work' this alliteration and repetition of the word work highlights the repeated cycle of working nonstop. The phrase 'I live for work' seems to indicate Mr.Mitchell's acceptance and defeat of his current life. People should live for their dreams, for themselves, but the speaker doesn't. It doesn't seem like he will be able to escape from it, neither will the rest of the people who feels touched by such amazing poetry.

With the final sentence, he reflects the answer to his title. Sleep, is something I lack. He doesn't agree that sleep is bad, or something that everyone should not be doing. Instead, he simply states that there is no to me to sleep for him.
