A booking note for Rome trip planning. The Vatican Museums sell timed entry tickets and the popular morning slots go first. Book ahead. The 2026 Vatican guide on the channel walks through all the details if you have not seen it.

The Spanish Steps are covered in azaleas right now, but not for long. Every spring the city brings them up from the San Sisto nursery and arranges hundreds of them across the staircase, then they go back once the blooms start to fade. If you're heading to Rome this spring, my Rome in Spring video has more on what's worth catching this time of year.

Five new things to see and do at the Colosseum in 2026 is live!
Three are free, two need a ticket. Watch the video for the full breakdown of all five, plus a tip on how to actually book the two ticketed ones (it's not as straightforward as you'd expect). Let me know in the comments which one you're most excited to see. https://youtu.be/p5Fxn5ZsbHY

A booking reminder for anyone planning a Rome trip. The Galleria Borghese is the one museum where you cannot walk in. Two-hour timed slots, usually sold out a week or two ahead. Book it the moment your dates are set.

Hi everyone. This Sunday I'm releasing a new video about five new things to see and do at the Colosseum in 2026. Three of them are completely free, and even the two that aren't, most people have no idea they exist. If you're heading to Rome this year, this is the one to watch.
See you Sunday!

Heads up if you're in Rome on Friday. May 1 is Festa dei Lavoratori, so most museums and shops close. The Concertone at Piazza San Giovanni runs from afternoon into the night. Plan sightseeing for Thursday or Saturday if you can.

People always ask me how far in advance they need to book restaurants in Rome.
The honest answer is it depends. If it's a restaurant that's gone viral on social media or been featured on a TV show, you probably need to book at least a month out because those places fill up fast.
But for a good, solid Roman trattoria, booking one to three days ahead is usually enough. In high season I'd push that to a week if you can.
And if you arrive in Rome with nothing booked, don't worry. There is always something good to eat. I have a page on romewise.com called Where Locals Eat in Rome that can point you in the right direction.

Pantheon tip: skip the credit card line and use the cash line instead. It moves much faster. Tickets are 5 euros and you really don't need to book in advance.

If you've ever gone to book the Colosseum and thought it was sold out, it probably wasn't. Tickets just hadn't been released yet.
In this video, I walk through every major site in Rome and tell you what to book, when to book it, and what to skip. I also cover restaurants, hotels, trains, and a few logistics people tend to forget about.
This is one of the most common sources of stress I hear from travelers, so I wanted to put it all in one place.
