This year, and exactly on Wednesday March 20, 2024 I defended my Viva Voce (Ph.D, Building Information Modelling (BIM) in Architecture) at the University of Uyo, Nigeria.
The story of the journey is one I will still share in depth but God did this to His glory.
First, this was my 3rd attempt at a Ph.D which started back in 2012. I never could finish the other times in the first two universities, but took a bold step to start in UniUyo again in 2019/2020 session and here we are now.
This academic process took swipes on my health, my already partly disabled eye sight, my family life, my finances, my time and my mental health, but through it all God gave me the grace to keep going. I went through this while working full time and doing my private practice as well. Oh yes, I did.
But there is no way, I could have succeeded without the support of my dear wife - the ever proficient editor then my children, my parents and parents-in-law, my friends and all my examiners and readers at all levels. I can't tell you how much they all sacrificed for me.
I am grateful.
The high point of my research work is my dogged development of a BIM integration and progression Framework for Nigerian Architecture Schools. To implement BIM in Architecture Education Curriculum across Nigeria is now easy and I will explore more to help institutions pivot faster.
