🌍✈️ Travel Reflections Series: My Approach to Exploring the World ✈️🌍
Hi, Explorers! I’m excited to start a weekly series sharing my personal travel strategies and quotes—insights I’ve gathered from years of adventures around the globe.
1️⃣ Traveling Off-Peak:
I prefer to travel in January, May, and September. Choosing these months means I enjoy destinations when they’re warm (or just semi-cold!) but less crowded, as most people are still in “winter mode” at home. During the busy summer, I stay in the US and make the most of local adventures with my kids and family.
2️⃣ No Rigid Itineraries:
Even in places where I don’t speak the language—like Japan, Prague, or Slovakia—I never create an official itinerary. I used to rely on my trusty Garmin GPS and, when needed, would simply walk, ask in English, or let curiosity guide me. Now, with smartphones and Google Maps, it’s even easier! Some of my best discoveries happened by accident, and I believe too much planning can take away the magic of spontaneous exploration.
3️⃣ See More, Return Less:
My philosophy is to see as much as possible in the time I have—because there are too many places to visit and not enough time to keep returning to the same spot. Each trip, I aim for a new country, a new culture, and a new continent: South America, Asia, the Middle East, all corners of Europe, and soon, Africa.
