Beyond operating one of San Francisco's most famous restaurants, Betz was beloved for his philanthropic activities, which included serving prime rib for Christmas Eve dinner to more than 1,500 people in need at Glide Memorial Church.

A Northern California woman by the name of Isis is planning to take on the DMV over her vanity license plate, "IAMISIS." Isis Wharton says she received a letter from the DMV last week claiming her custom plate violates state rules because it could be linked to the terrorist group with the same name, Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

She's owned the plate since 2022 with no issues.
