Sean Ono Lennon says: In 2023, I worked with Dave Mullins and Brad Booker on an animated short film called WAR IS OVER! – about a heroic wartime carrier pigeon delivering messages across the battlefield between two chess-playing soldiers – which I”m delighted to say, won the Academy Award® for Best Animated Short. We would be honoured if you would help us spread the word about the film and John & Yoko’s timeless message – that ‘War is over if you want it’.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING! 28 November 1974 marked an incredible moment in musical history as John Lennon walked onstage at Madison Square Garde to join @EltonJohn to perform their single, ‘Whatever Gets You Thru The Night’. The concert would be Lennon’s last major concert appearance, and the result of a bet Elton made John - that the song would top the Billboard Hot 100 chart - John reluctantly agreeing that if it did he would make a surprise appearance. Photos from that evening show the electric atmosphere on stage (and even feature Elton’s lyricist Bernie Taupin on stage with the duo, a rare occurrence!) Also featured here are photos of Elton and John in rehearsals at the Record Plant recording studio in NYC two days before the concert; traveling on Elton’s private plane, the Starship 1 and backstage at Madison Square Garden.
WAR IS OVER! - The Music (documentary) In this indepth discussion about bringing the film to life with music, Dave Mullins, Brad Booker, Sean Ono Lennon, Karen Dufilho, Thomas Newman and Vicki Hiatt discuss their collaboration and inspiration for the music.
