Historical log 006

Well, here we have ‪@OneCoolCatKC‬ falling back after partaking in what would be known as the "sunstart ambush". This was the day the Octarian Army rolled into Inkling territory with an unmatched diligence, causing many splats to the unprepared and mostly asleep inklings. Cat managed to wake up in time, but couldn't hold the line with his unit, so he was forced to fall back to avoid capture. Of course, his psychological status is at a near breaking point, but he holds strong due to his indomitable spirit.
Unfortunately for the Inklings, they would fall back even more and lose more territory, until finally being able to make a stand in a river line, from which they would later have to keep conceding territory. I can only imagine what was going on in the minds of these young cephalopods as their "friends" turned on them, albeit for survival, they didn't know it.
Fortunately we have more entries from both sides, which will allow me to cover the struggle on both sides.
...They really sacrificed a lot, we should be grateful for the lifestyle we enjoy today. Lest we forget.

History log 005

I have found a recollection of notes, letters and epitaphs regarding the Inkling and Octarians side of the Great Turf War, enough to write a book about it. I have decided to give it a title and share a bit of what I have written so far, along with a hand drawn picture.


Excerpts from "Our Great War" , talking about the first battles of The Great Turf War.

"...He turned back to see the battlefield he had been forced to evacuate from, as neighboring units were getting overrun. The metallic smoke of ink permeated the air of a drowsy tone. Some grazing shots laid in his clothes, not even a uniform.
The attack came out of nowhere early in the morning. Whatever remained of the border patrols and first responders laid in the sky above, falling down on him as he caught his breath. He knew he had to keep...falling back. But his head and legs kept him in check for some seconds.
The Octarians...they really were going all out. Nothing like this had ever happened before. And...those things...they were new. Impervious to ink, to his weapon. For all he knew, they had already lost.
Yet, he kept walking, maybe out of desperation, horror, or maybe hope. He thought of food, sleep, and his mother. A nice hot meal and his mother giving him a hug. Some small tears formed in the edge of his eyes, partly due to the enemy ink clamping down on him. As he kept walking, he flared up of anger. The battlefield behind gave no show of slowing down. If he was caught in the open, chances were he would be splatted...and he didn't want to join his brothers and sisters just yet.
Surely there was a force being assembled as he spoke, even if the Octarians had advanced so much. Surely, they could all live, and laugh and smile as before...it was not all lost...but he feared it would all be..."

Historical Log 004

After digging for some more weeks, I finally have been able to depict ‪@Ellyssa_Playz‬, in the old days. She was a fisherwoman, and was pre-scouted by the Octarians before the invasion, perhaps due to her high hand-eye coordination. Otherwise, by the sources I was able to dig up, she was quite friendly and caring, maybe stemming from a loss in her life before the war, though I am not 100% sure.
Regarding more sources, I am happy to announce I have obtained many more during my investigation, though I am not so sure how many artistic depictions I may be able to do in such short notice. Furthermore, the sources keep getting closer to the start of the war, so the depictions may become crude, though accurate, so I would advise caution as we progress. After all, the Great Turf War shaped our world today, and a lot happened in it.
