Clean Co-op Race Rules

This is a set of rules that add a bit of a challenge to the co-op races in Forza Horizon, e.g. The Trial, The Tour or a Seasonal race run in co-op.

The idea is to win the race, starting from the very back and the most important bit... without being hit or hitting, anyone or any thing.

The Detail

✅️ Rule 1 - No Contact ✅️

This rule is the one that trains you to be a better Superstar, to anticipate trouble, to give other Superstars more space and to learn patience.

It doesn't matter what was hit. If it's a fellow Superstar, a Drivatar, NPC or indestructible object there was contact with, the run is invalidated.

It doesn't matter who hit who, who's at fault or why it happened, there are no excuses. If there was contact, the run is invalidated.

It doesn't matter how light the contact was. If there was contact, the run is invalidated.

Destructible items don't count, so feel free to continue mowing down the street furniture, farm infrastructure and vegetation of the host nation.


✅️ Rule 2 - Team Win ✅️

It's a team sport we're hijacking, so best to play well with others and help them win the for the team.

If you're being so super girthy awesome that you find yourself a mile ahead of everyone else and the team is losing then you've fucked up my brother. You should be doing your teamwork to help the others. GL keeping your rule 1 intact holding up Drivatar's though :)


✅️ Rule 3 - Full Lobby ✅️

Stands to reason, less humans means better odds of success so to keep it hard, there should be a full lobby. 6 Horizon Superstars! However sometimes lobbies aren't full so rather than being a pass/fail rule we'll consider this a grade.

6 > 5 > 4 > 3 > 2 > 1

✅️ Rule 4 - No Rage Quit ✅️

People rage quit. Sometimes just to clean up their bedrooms but the reason doesn't matter, someone rage quitting ahead of you means you don't have to pass them so your run is easier. Unfortunately your run is also invalidated!

If someone rage quits behind you then there are no fucks given - except by you coz if this is race 1, they've already fucked your next run!

If there is vehicle overlap when they start the process of rage quitting, i.e. going to the menu, and it's not obvious who is ahead of who, we'll give you the benefit of the doubt, grant clemency and submit you to the Order of Knights of the Overjoyed Racers.

✅️ Rule 5 - Come From The Back ✅️

You must be last on the in-race leader board at some point in the race. C'mon superstar, you're awesome are you not? Starting from the back should be easy!

Just a note on qualifying position. If you're not last then you'll need to find a way to drop to the back without being hit. That'll be fun for you!

Even if you do qualify last, if your starts are fantastic awesome super whoosh whoosh then by the time the leader board appears you might not be. Don't be caught out.

For the avoidance of doubt. Even if you qualify last, only your position on the race leader board will be referred too.


✅️ Rule 6 - Personal Win ✅️

You're going to find this kind of hard given all the above rules and even if you do manage to get in front, it's at that moment you'll realise the impossibru feat you've just achieved and promptly put it in the wall in the next corner! Please record this and share it!


Humble Brag Rules

If you wish to brag about how you managed this challenging feat then the following points should be observed to counter claims of fraud in an imaginary game with imaginary and non-enforceable rules

✅️ Video or it didn't happen!
✅️ The video must include the starting order and final result scoreboard and everything in between.
✅️ The in race leader board must be visible so it can be verified you hit last place.


The Prize

There is no prize except better race craft and, if you record your races, you'll also get some outstanding footage of the chaos that is Forza Horizon.

However you need to be aware you'll be contributing to that leftist, hippy dippy bullshit of making racing in co-op just slightly nicer for all your teammates and what sort of fucking weirdo would want to do that?!?!?

I use wee emojis to indicate some things in my video descriptions.

First off, here's the ones for FH5 Co-op Racing.

This is the basic key: -

👴 Me.
🎮 A Superstar. This is what the game calls the players.
🖥️ A Drivatar. This is the name of the AI opponents.
🧱 Wall or other indestructible object.
🚗 Traffic car. Only applies to Street Scene races.
❓ Debate to be had, for when I can't decide who is at fault or neither are at fault.

So in the description of a FH5 co-op race these emojis are put together to mean the following: -

🧱 I hit a wall or other indestructible object.
🧱🚗 I hit an traffic car (Street Scene).
👴🎮 I hit a Superstar.
👴🖥️ I hit a Drivatar.

🎮👴 A Superstar hit me .
🖥️👴 A Drivatar hit me.

Hopefully that makes a bit of sense.

Talking of the gamer tags, you might be relieved to know I don't spend time typing all those in. Instead I wrote some PHP code to call FFMPEG to extract frames from the video to send to Tesseract OCR for converting to a text file. It makes minor mistakes, especially with the badges in FH5 and the crowns in FM, so I do have a little bit of clean up to do, but mostly it's fine.

This is why all the FH races start with the leaderboard and why I show the qualifying results in FM. Now if only those games could send competitor information via the UDP output like a normal racing game!
