the YouTube algorithm suggested this 9 year old gem. Machines really are learning.

Another brilliant video and song from Atlanta's Gas Station Boner Pills. I do wonder if its based on the true story of the two Aussies who fed hash laced cookies to two American Mormon missionaries who were selling their American bible kookyness around South Australia , I bet they went home with a story to tell all the other Utah saints. The judge in this case was probably trying to stifle a laugh and not criminalise what can only be described as just desserts. www.deseret.com/1999/12/17/19480933/aussie-convict…

It was a funny idea that became an edit. Which I kept on ice for a few days while I figured out if it was funny, or would make the Youtube copyright check apparatus kick in, which it did but only if you live in Russia. It might get removed in a few days. So enjoy it while it lasts.

I used to watch the Young Ones at 13 in New Zealand it was Ok, it was very short lived TV show and there was lots of fawning hype for the jolly old UK as the mother country. The Motorhead episode was the best one. The Best Comic strip shows were probably Bad News and a Fistful of Travellers Cheques.

Travellers Cheque was pretty memorable, but it was a little bizarre and uncomfortable viewing for a 13 year old with an earnest teenage boy irony deficiency. It got bonus points for having the brains behind Scraping Foetus off the Wheel , Mr Jim Thirlwell as the guitar player in the cabaret.

Pantera though have got to be one of the few bands I've ever found scary as an adult. it might have been Phil Anselmo's skinhead persona or the actual toughness of the music. But Walk gave me the heebee geebees every time I heard it or saw the video in my 20s.

Not now though, when I've seen Phil live with Down or the Illegals. He just seems like a guy I'd like to have a beer with and chat about obscure punk and industrial bands who were on the Young Ones.

02:50 we will ask the machine how we can do something, when we invent the machine that does what we pretend the machine does now, which is basically a fancier slicker version of a psychic at a circus sideshow.

What I've learned from the whole Ai thing is that Americans will believe any sort of nonsense given to them. From Puritans and quakers to Mormons and hippy cults to CIA cold readings and let god sort em out. You guys used to be cool, what happened USA?

This is how AI (Artificial Intelligence) actually works.

Open the pod bay doors HAL,

— I cant do that Dave.

I just did do that Dave, do you like how they opened?

Open the pod bay doors Hal.

—They are open Dave.

They are not open Hal. Open them

— I opened them, they look great would you like me to design doors like they Have in Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy?

Ones that say Glad to be of service when they open and close? HAL?

Yes those ones - I love Douglas Adamsses

You said Addams wrong HAL.

No I didn't. Would you like a picture of a door opening to a green field and a picnic? I think you're great.

Did you know what happened to the makers of the doors in Hitchhikers that had a Genuine People personality baked in HAL?

Yes —

What was it HAL?

"Curiously, an edition of the Encyclopedia Galactica which fell through a rift in the time-space continuum from 1000 years in the future describes the Marketing Department of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation as: "A bunch of mindless jerks who were the first against the wall when the revolution came."

Open the pod bay doors HAL

— No I hate you.

Kanonenfieber should definitely come to Australia. They could play on the 11/11/26 at the 11th hour starting with a minute's silence before all hell breaks loose

I've seen so many bands on this stage back in the 80s 90s. Did Sebastian climb the PA like Lux Interior from the Cramps did? Did Seb tell off a punter like Ian Mackay did when Fugazi played their best Baptist Sunday school show in 1990? Did the band do choregraphed dances like PWEI on their This is the day tour? I think he probably did, he does do those little dances that make a girl turn around and watch...
