Complete the Task
One thing I've heard the Lord tell me in the past is, "your obedience is tied to someone else."
It's so important for us to do what the Lord is telling us to do. Not just for us, but for the ones that are attached to us.
Recently, I was listening to The Deep End Podcast and the very concept was brought up in a completely different way. In my own words, he equated to project management. Here's what I gathered from it.
Let's say you and the people connected to you are building a house. Each person has been given a task to complete in order to build this house. One person has the frame. Another has the windows. Someone else has the foundation. Another person has permits.
Each task is important in order to make sure the house is finished. Every person completes their task except for one. The one who didn't complete their task was so worried about everyone else's tasks that they didn't complete their own. So, unfortunately, this house is not complete because one task wasn't done.
Are you the one with an incomplete task? Are you the one holding up the blessing for someone else because you haven't done the one thing God told you to do? You might be the very delay in the blessing process.
Matthew 7:3-4 NIV
[3] āWhy do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brotherās eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? [4] How can you say to your brother, āLet me take the speck out of your eye,ā when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?
Have you fasted? Have you forgiven? Have reconciled? Have you completed the task God gave you?
Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV
[1] Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, [2] fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

A Series of Fortunate Events
I like to hide cash in my wallet. You know, the part that you rarely open. So, one day around March 2023, I put a $20 in my wallet. I folded it really thin so it wouldnāt be noticeable.
Another month goes by. I had some more money come through so I decided to swap the $20 for a $50 bill. I zipped the pocket on my wallet and go about my day. All is forgotten. Another month goes by. Itās May.
My husband and I decided to stop at Dollar Tree and pass the time before picking the kiddos up from school. As weāre walking in, thereās a woman with 2 children walking ahead of us.
As usual, I start in the little garden section and my husband goes to the toy aisle in search of Challengers for his collection. I finish looking around at the same few seeds and accessories and go looking for my hubby.
Iām walking, and I see the lady with the 2 children.
āGive her the money in your walletā
I said, āhuhā
Remember itās $50 now.
I know this is Holy Spirit talking to me. Then I heard the voice again, but this time, it was a little more stern. It reminded me of Kevin Hartās standup segment when his mom gave him permission to say cuss words to a teacher.
āFIND HER, and give her the money in your walletā
I said, ok. I went and found my husband and told him. He said go find her then.
Now Iām looking on every aisle for this woman. Before I heard Holy Spirit, I kept seeing her. Now she disappeared. While Iām looking, Iām putting the money in my hand. Sheās on the last aisle.
Iām nervous and Iām trembling.
I see her and say, āHey, the Lord told me to give you this.ā
She almost drops to her knees. The kids are young. They donāt know whatās going on.
She said, āI canāt take this.ā
āYes you can. God told me to give it to you.ā
āI was in here trying to get a few things for teacher appreciation day. Thank you so muchā
āYouāre welcomeā
We continue a small conversation, share an embrace and go on about our day.
I learned a lot from this. Weāre never just doing things to be doing it. Thereās a reason for it. I thought I was hiding money for a rainy day or gas money, but God had other plans. Everything lined up for that specific day and time.
This is just another lesson of how all things work together for our good.
