Hi I have some THINGS to say and it’s going to be rambly like the start of a Pinterest mommy-blogger recipe post SO HOLD ON TO YOUR BUTTS, COWBOYS.

This is about Authortube, FYI. Well, and me, but mainly Authortube.

The thing is, I don’t think I can convey how much building a community within Authortube has positively impacted my life, but I’m going to try.

I met my critique partner who is one of my closest friends simply by commenting on someone’s post, her responding, and later, us jumping into each other’s DMs. I wouldn’t be half the writer I am without meeting her, and I don’t say that lightly. Like, did you enjoy THE GLASS WITCH? THE ODDS? Thank her. We talk every day, and the 1,683.5 miles between us feels like nothing.

I met my second critique partner after she gave my channel a shout-out in an “Authortubers You Should Be Following” video. We’ve since shared querying, getting agents, and going on submission together, not to mention vacations, weddings, and hours of discussing the trashy TV shows we buddy watch on a regular basis.

I’ve become friends and acquaintances with other writers too, ones I meet up with yearly for writing retreats, weekly livestream sprints, daily meme sharing, and hobby chats. Experienced authors who all but literally held my hand through my auction and hobby writers who spark my creativity and remind me of the joy of storytelling.

I’ve gotten wild opportunities—speaking on panels, invitations to book conventions, sponsorship deals, and so much more. Through this community I literally get PAID to share my work, both my books and the unhinged videos I make about the process, which still leaves me like this “?!?!!!” every time I think about it.

Through Authortube, I’ve had so many days brightened by comments left on my videos. Like, the fact that somewhere out there in the wild world, someone took the time out of their busy life to say “hey, this was great!” or “loved your book!” still leaves me Pikachu-faced.

And when The Dark Times come and I’m stuck in hermit mode due to pain flares and desperately need a distraction, a laugh, a friendly face—I know I can find someone to “hang out” with for a while just by going to my subscription feed and watching someone’s latest upload.

I can share all of this and STILL the words don’t word hard enough.

Basically, I want everyone to be able to experience the community I have.

I’ve been tinkering with the idea of creating a small, tight-knit space where writers can make friends, find readers, and grow together for a while now, not to mention find a way to give back to the AMAZING community I’ve already built on Authortube. So after months of deliberating, waffling, hemming and hawing, I finally sat down and got to planning. Which brings us to today and theeee—
