7/22/26 Hiking Haven Hill @ Highland Recreation Area, MI. Enjoyed seeing the turtle and daddy long legs spider. I used hike here through the woods at night in 1987. Sad that over the years, several of the buildings were destroyed. I can tell the State appears to be doing a bit of work to the old main house/mansion area. I went to Niagara Falls in 2023 (all but first photo). Beautiful. Today. Not so much. First photo is from today due to smoke from Canadian wild fires. I read half the fires started by lightning and half human caused but the ones started by lightning account for 80% of the areas burned because these fires are typically in remote areas not easily accessible versus human started ones in more populated and accessible areas.
