It really hit me when I reached 10k subscribers today on YouTube, just wanted to share with everyone and remind that starting is the most important part of any journey. I'm just like you. I had my doubts too. So trust the process keep pushing, and let's talk about my journey.

I was in the USA far from my home country with English not being my first language. I had no idea about the culture, the people, or so many other things. I wasn't confident at all, but there was this inner force driving me forward, telling me I could do it.

When I first started my candle business, I was filled with even more doubt. Frankly I didn't even want to tell anyone I was launching it. What if it failed? What would people say? I worried my friends might laugh at me. But my business partner she was confident from the start even though we'd only been working together for two months. She wasn't scared at all; she just said, "We'll do this." That's how we began as "Ruba Candles," blending the first two letters of her name with mine.

But fast forward, and my partner left me within 2 months of starting the business. She told me I couldn't use the name or the page anymore because her friends and family were involved. I was back to square one, full of uncertainty and self-doubt. But then my husband stepped in with a simple question: "What do you have to lose?" I'd already invested in supplies, done all the wick testing, and put in the work. He was right—mostly, it was just the money I'd already spent.

That moment flipped a switch. I thought, "Whatever," and decided I had to prove to myself that I could do this on my own, without anyone's help. My first order came in 2020—a baby shower gift from a friend. It was small, but it was the spark I needed.

Today, here I am with 10k subscribers on YouTube 44k followers on Instagram and 43k on Pinterest—running a thriving business while hosting candle-making parties teaching classes, and even managing a second venture: my social media marketing company, Swell.

I'm here to help you because I know what it's like to need that support. Someone from the candle community helped me when I was just starting out—Jeff Standley. I didn't know him at all I just reached out on Facebook, and he was kind enough to guide me. Now, I want to pay it forward.
