New York Philharmonic

Each season the New York Philharmonic connects with millions of music lovers through live concerts in New York City and around the world, as well as broadcasts, recordings, and education programs. In the 2025–26 season Gustavo Dudamel becomes the Oscar L. Tang and H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang Music & Artistic Director Designate. The NY Phil has appeared in 436 cities in 63 countries and premiered important works, from Dvořák’s New World Symphony to Tania León’s Pulitzer Prize–winning Stride. The Philharmonic has released more than 2,000 recordings since 1917, and the Orchestra’s history is available free online through the New York Philharmonic Shelby White & Leon Levy Digital Archives. Annual free concerts are complemented with education projects including the Young People’s Concerts and the Very Young Composers Program. Founded in 1842, the NY Phil has been led by luminaries such as Bernstein, Toscanini, and Mahler.
